FF8 is terrible, easily the worst 3D FF ever done except for the 13 that is even worse.

Agreed didn't bother with finishing either one.

Pokémon Red, Silver and Xenoblade Chronicles are the only 3 rpgs I really enjoyed.

One of the best, perhaps the best for some, but not for me personally. Very good game though.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Before this thread goes into obscurity, I have to jump in on this to say:

Yes, Chrono Trigger is the greatest RPG ever made.

It is the greatest RPG of all time! : )

Though other great RPGs were also mentioned, like Grandia 2, Baldur's Gate 2, Paper Mario, Pokemon Silver...

Man, so many great RPGs... :, )

*looks at Xenoblade*

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

No,the story and characters are average at best and the plot is not interesting.Everything else is brilliant though.

No. It's on the list but its not the absolute #1.

I'd give that title to Xenogears.

Final Fantasy IV is high on my list as well.  In fact it held its #1 spot in my heart for years until I played Xenogears for the first time which was in the 7th generation.  So I like to use it as an example of how my nominations are not due to nostalgia.  I played on PS1 game that I never played in the 90s, in the PS360 generation, and it pretty much blew me away and took my #1 spot of all time.  The scope and implications of the story just blow away anything else.

It would be an injustice to attempt to list all the games high on the list and risk missing one, but nothing has instilled neck chills the way Xenogears did towards the end.

Yes imho. There are hundreds of amazing RPGs/JRPGs, and some come close to Chrono, but I think Chrono was indeed the best overall, specially for the time it was made. We have to consider that. It still holds as an amazing game to this day. I think it has aged pretty well.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Still Playing:
Xenoblade Chronicles (seems slow and drawn out... about 10-20 hours in)

Game hasn't even started yet.

You think it's boring and slow now, but when you finally finish it you'll probably watch the ending movie once a day for at least a month.

My final save sits at 164 hours played.  The usual everything 99 treatment of course.
