Those Super Mario Maker and Splatoon legs are almost scary.

What are the expectations for PS4 next week? I'm thinking of 40K.

Just for reference, Vita sales went 8k (price cut not announced) -> 11k (price cut announced and some retailers slashed price early) -> 62k at the time of its price cut. It also had Phantasy Star Online 2 and Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus the week of its price cut. I think PS4 only has Arslan Warriors + bundle?

It shouldn't be shocking. Happens to all hardware in Japan before pricecuts. the 3DS was down to 4k the week before its pricecut, the PS3 was down to 1k in the few weeks before PS3 Slim launch.


The price cut of the 3DS was bigger and the PS3 slim was a big redesign coming after years from the original release. That's the difference. 

Hopefully the PS4 will manage to stay on a 15k+ baseline after the boost of the price cut's week.

So, uh, yay for Super Mario Maker! And, well, the Wii U in general. But software sales that were tracked is at a measly ~75k...but, at least a 180k shipment for Japan is confirmed, so Japan might actually edge out America as the best-performing region for the Wii U, if the reaction to Super Mario Maker was really so tepid.

PS4 should be 59k+ next week.

And, they appeared to forget about the XB1 in the graph. They should fix it.

Stole this from Ryng on Gaf. I think this is a good sign that SMM has a good possibility of becoming a 1m+ seller in Japan, seeing as though Splatoon has that in the bag. Obviously it won't be quite as leggy as Splatoon, but I think it will end up in the MK8 range when everything is said and done. Which would be quite a good result.
