Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you think Nintendo will somehow celebrate Metroid's 30th anniversary in 2016 besides Federation Force?

What do you mean?

A game you show for the first time 6 months before its (intended) release, as opposed to 18+ months. Look at Pikmin 4, a game that is supposedly almost complete yet we haven't seen hide nor hair of it. Same case here. Reggie specifically said they don't want to show games too early when asked about Metroid. An obvious indication that a Metroid game is in the works, but they don't want to show it until it is almost complete. Just like Pikmin 4, or Star Fox.

Lol, Metroid Prime 4 as NX launch title confirmed!!

And more seriously, I'd love it if them did something. This is one of the few mature franchises they own that can easily help fix their image. A HD collection of all 2D games would be dope actually, though MP Trilogy HD would be a must-have as well.

MP4... Please come in the first year of NX

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Celebrations already began.

While I would LOVE a celebration for Metroid's 30th Anniversary, I get the feeling that the year will belong to the Legend of Zelda. With Zelda Wii U coming out, it's going to be the 25th Anniversary all over again when Skyward Sword came out and all the attention went to that instead of the Metroid series.

Oh, for shure, 2016 will be Zelda focused, but I was wondering if Nitendo will do anything to celebrate, even something in small like a teaser for a new game or a celebration video (?)

Well, Nintendo showed Captain Toad, 3D World and Tropical Freeze 6 months before its release...

......Yes? They like doing that. Reggie essentially said that's what they want to do for Metroid, if you read between the lines.

If Federation Force is seriously Nintendo's way of celebrating Metroid's 30th anniversary, that just makes them look very disconnected from the Metroid fan community. Very poor move on their part, imo.

This is pure speculation on my part, but...

You will see a new Metroid and Zelda for the launch of the NX. Whatever work was done for those titles is being reworked for the NX, as the Wii U is being shut down one year earlier than expected. They will launch in the fall of 2016, after being announced at E3.
