Forums - Politics Discussion - Pope: Workers Have 'Human Right' to Refuse Same-Sex Marriage Licenses

I don't think many people understand.

Being a Christian means that YOU cannot get married to the same sex, it doesn't mean that OTHER people can't if they want.

That's like being Vegetarian and saying "Because I'm vegetarian I'm not going to serve you meat".

While your point is correct, the bolded isn't true. There are many Christians who are also gay. Religion and belief in Christianity is down to the person after all.

Hmm, pie.

Yes but scripture says they can't. It also says they can't work on a sunday but some do. I'm just making a point as people use scripture to back up their claims.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Unless you are not employed by the government to issue licenses, you do not have no say in the matter in the Untied States. It is law of the land now.

Right. Rights of humans, with human rights, which are rightly undeniable in their rightness should always be right to exercise. Anything less just wouldn't be right. Right?

Point well made, and as there are over 30000 demoninations of Christianity, it seems as though even Christians cannot agree on what the scripture says.

Refusing someone service on religious or cultural grounds is not human rights. It's denying other people service.

Forget human rights.

Most places of employment have some sort of discrimination / bulling / bubble wrap from being sued policy that covers items such as racism, physical and verbal bullying, sexual orientation, religous discrimination and disabilities.

What she did was discrimination and ironically she can't get fired because of the same policy which a court would find that she was unfairly dismissed based on discrimination of her religious beliefs. So political correctness wins again lol.

You would think common sense would trigger in her head and she would change jobs where her beliefs are not compromised.

That was uncalled for...

I don't agree with what Kim Davis did by negating gay couples their right of marriage because of her beliefs. However, I can understand the Pope where he says objecting to some things is a human right. But it's a human right that opposes another human right approved by the Supreme Court. This is basically a case of "your rights end where mine begins"

I do agree with him.

It's ironic that the US is trying to be politically correct now yet in that 'political correctness'
that we're striving toward people like me (white, straight, lower middle class, no government aid) have rapidly become the new targets of objectification while all SORTS of fucked up stuff is happening on other levels that are completely being blown out of proportion;

Yesterday on my news feed I read an article about a feminist that was attempting to sue a man for 'Rape' because he had saved her from drowning and had to resuscitate her with CPR. She claims he touched her breast - which is not surprising considering the palm of your hand is placed right under that area.

Or you look at the bullshit that happened with the confederate flag, or how white cops kill only black citizens, etc etc etc.

If you want true equality this is what should have happened - If that couple had went to Miss Davis seeking a marriage license and she declined, she should have kept her job and they should have gone to another licencor to seek what they need. That's the fairest way to deal with it plain and simple.
