'Should' and 'will' are far apart when we're talking Galaxies :)  I listen to Star Talk all the time, btw.  Even Tyson would admit that he can't say for sure.  Not that I'm saying for certain it will happen, all I'm pointing out is when you're talking billions of years, many, many unforeseen events can occur.  Heck, a planet going supernova at the right angle would potentially strip the atmosphere right off the planet and irradiate all life on Earth.  The thought that we'll definitely be around in 5-7bln years is...well, human levels of ego talking :)

In 5bn years humans will not be humans anymore. The sun would be a Giant and thus the earth would not be there as the sun would occupy that space. Neptune and Pluto would have collided along with other objects colliding, possibly the earth and a comet. In fact in just 1bn years the earth would not be habitable.

In just 1 bn years. Lol. We are so indoctrinated by these big numbers that it feels like it's around the corner. Our written history is just around 7000 years old. We have enough time.

brb, moving to Mars before the Earth blows up.

The moon is probably a better destination. The temperature there is much better than Mars, and since it's closer to Earth, shipping for games and amiibos shouldn't be as expensive :/

The moon is probably a better destination than Mars in case the Earth blows up? Wouldn't the Earth blowing up mean there is a very good chance the moon would go with it though?

I think by the time the earth blows up the moon would be captured by the sun and become another planet.

Is the moon big enough to be a planet though? Isn't that why Pluto got de-planctised? It wasn't big enough?

The moon is almost as big as mercury. Pluto got de-planetised for many reasons, thus leading to the decision.

The "in just" is relative to stars and planets natural lifetimes.  Its been 4.5bn years for the sun already.

1 question. Can i play video games on mars?

Well...water wasn't actually found.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

What in the fucking fuck is that! I had it to 7:40 before I just had to stop...That might be the worst thing I've ever seen.

I managed 11:40 for the entertainment value.

Actually, I would say we're more indoctrinated in terms of 2-4 years tops, which is around the timeframe of a senator/congressman/President.  The proof is how little we invest in future tech (for the US anyway), that would result in benefits beyond your typical Governmental term.

The inability of many people to wrap their heads around a million or billion years worth of natural processes, is precisely why Evolution has been such a hard concept for people to grasp.

Oh, I was thinking more of Nuclear apocalypse explosion, rather than the whole planet being blown apart :p
