MGS1.. it has great story and gameplay, memorable character, the boss fights are also great and unique (gray fox and psycho mantis comes to mind). Guns of patriot will be 2nd then snake eater for 3rd and sons of liberty for 4th place. Haven't play phantom pain so can't speak for it.

They couldn't have, or else there would be a lot of feedback.

I would have been delighted if it was an option. I would have hailed it as the greatest MGS game of all time if they had that option.

I like MGS5, which also means I like Peace Walker. I'm not used to the new voice actor for Big Boss though.

I like MGS4 more, I hope Solid Snake makes a return somehow. Oh and with David Hayter as voice of Snake.

MGS3 Subsistence I would say is the peak of the series. The story was interesting but fairly easy to understand and the gameplay was fine tuned to near perfection (although inventory management was kind of a mess).

I would rank MGS1 over MGS2 just because of the characters, and I like Shadow Moses more than the Big Shell but both are pretty top notch games.

MGS V I would put up here, it's rather lacking in story but the gameplay is the best in the series and there's just so much replayability. If the game was a bit more fine tuned, I think it would easily rank over MGS1 and 2 but alas this is what we got.

Peacewalker I would put next, it's more like a mini-Phantom Pain but on the go. Good game nonetheless. Portable Ops would probably fit in here somewhere too.

I have to put MGS4 on the bottom of the Solid seires just because while the game itself was fun to play, the story was an absolute mess. Trying to wrap up an entire series such as this in one game is just insane. Despite it's flaws though, I still enjoy it a lot.

The MSX games are in a weird limbo for me, I haven't gotten to Metal Gear 2 yet but Metal Gear 1 I would probably put on the bottom. It feels clunky to play now a days but still a solid game despite the limitations.

havent played 5 yet or the psp ones will get to 5 early next year though played and plated GZ last year wouldnt rate that though as it felt like a demo

i liked the original one i played it during my youth well the age most of you guys are now on ps1 really ahead of its time when it came out i loved the cardboard boxes i also own the GC version TS

mgs3 comes in a close 2nd real close i liked the whole forset setting back then a show called lost just came out and the two went well together for me, lot of gampelay controls additions compared to the original aswell as more freedom

i didnt like 2 or 4 wasnt feeling the story, excessive cut scenes, the settings, sanke/big boss didnt feel like that rambo badass like he did playing him in mgs1 and 3

Twin Snakes had great game play and a coherent story. After the Suns of Liberty the story of Metal Gear Solid became a convoluted mess. Every new after MSG2 in the series seems like a unnecessary afterthought. It probably for the best that the Metal Gear series has come to an end.

Yet to play all of them, but every one that I've played is amazing.
