Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Nintendo's jump into mobile their new fail safe in case of a poorly selling console?

It great idea if Nintendo put their first party games on Apple store or Android store but making an handheld/phone hybrid won't work people will still buy Samsung and Apple phones

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Are you implying that there is some kind of business strategy involved in Nintendo's decision making?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

No. I think it's just another venture for the company. Despite it has gaming at it's basis, it's still just a branch.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Mobile will be Nintendo's no.1 revenue stream in 3-4 years, handheld NX will be no.2, console NX will be a distant no.3.

They are going to make a fortune off smartphone games. Maybe some kids will also then buy dedicated Nintendo hardware, but that's more up in the air. I don't think kids buy consoles/handhelds for Angry Birds.

This is going to be Nintendo's worst selling hardware generation in their history, so naturally big chances were going to occur.

With unified platform, handheld and console NX will be same revenue, not separate.

Also its not only about those revenues, people forgetting Amiibo, Nintendo will surely have more toys with their IPs, then we will have theme parks, movies with Nintendo IPs...Nintendo plan is pretty simple, being more like Disney not console gaming company only.

Amiibos could make a lot of money on smartphone/tablets too ... there's no reason to restrict them to the NX, all modern phones and tablets come with a NFC reader so they should work just fine with Amiibo toys. There should definitely be an Amiibo hub title for iOS/Google Play on top of a hub game for the NX.

They will widen their audience to the mobile crowd thats all and ic the nx is powerful hardwarewise and softwarewise it will look much better for nintendo

Yes, that would be good move.

Disney is a mega entertainment conglomerate that runs the biggest movie studio in the world with several sub-studios within that structure, owns several television networks, their own theme parks, their own cruise ships, large real estate holdings, their own hotels, etc. etc.

Nintendo just makes video games and a few toys more or less. So that is not really equivalent.

What Nintendo can be, and I think they will be is one of the leading smartphone game makers in terms of money.

They will make a ton of money off smartphone games.
