Grand theft auto 5 and TLOU were both really close to 10 for me, haven't played mgs5 yet.

GTAV > MGSV > TLOU

Why do people seem to be so opposed to games getting a 10/10? Sure, none of the games listed are perfect, but they're all so far ahead of their competition in recent years (with the exception of maybe Witcher 3 or Bloodborne or to an even lesser extent BioShock Infinite or Bayonetta 2), that it's a way to distinguish them from their peers.

I haven't finished playing MGS V. I know people have taken to complaining about it, but the gameplay is absolutely fantastic and intricate.

I think GTA gets 10/10s by default, just because it's GTA. It's fine, since everyone loves GTA, and the games are so intricate and alive that they deserve their scores. On the other hand, the last GTA that really massively shifted the paradigm was San Andreas all those years back, and you could argue that each GTA since has just been iterative.

I don't know if I can really judge TLOU objectively, since I have such a strong attachment to it. But I think it had the same effect on video games that the original Half-Life did -- it showed that you could have both really strong gameplay and a really strong story.

So yeah, I have no problem with great games getting 10/10s. They get 10/10s because they're good and you should buy and play them. But if I had to choose one, obviously I would choose The Last of Us.

If there were a poll, I would make a vote.

Poll added just because I love bacon.

MGS5

take away the story in the last of us and its a mediocore game, take away the open world gameplay from gta5 and its mediocore as well. People who complain about MGS5 havent played it yet or arent undertsanding the story and gameplay mechanics

I'm sorry, but that was one of the worst arguments I've seem in a while.
Taking away game strengths is by no means a valid point to say anything.

TLoU was built whole around a really well paced story and how the bonding between chars would make it weight more.
GTA5 was built whole around how could the world be more interesting to the player by exploring it.

What if I took away 3D gameplay from Mario 64?
What if I took away Colossi from Shadow of the Colossus?

What if I take away Kojima from MGSV?

I'm sorry, but that doesn't make any sense.

take away all conversations/cutscenes in mgs5 and the Last of Us and tell me which would be the better product?

Understanding the story? What is there to understand from an incomplete story?

MGS4 is the last chapter in the story there you have your answer.

And dont spoil anything for me i am still playing MGS5 and have a blast with the gameplay alone so far and story is intrresting as well. It doesnt matter how the story will end, snake can turn into a tomato at the end and wouldnt change my opnion that this is the best MGS game gameplay-wise.

This exactley what i wanted a military game to be in all the years, its pure tactical and information warfare with openworld/rpg construction. I like it more than the last of us so far.

You just can't chastize people for not understanding the story, then claim afterwards that you don't care about how the story ends (which makes me think you don't care about the story itself) and focus entirely on defending the gameplay. It renders your argument useless.

Second of all, I don't care if MGS4 is the last chapter in the story. That's another poor argument. Let's say Kojima had removed the story in MGS3, you wouldn't go and defend it by saying "MGS1 told us what happened to him" right? There's a reason why MGS3 has a story, and most people consider it to be the best (plot) in the series.

If you like it more, that's fine. You don't need to argue why do you like it more, you just do. But if you are criticising the other two games and praising Metal Gear to add depth to your opinion, try not to tread your own arguments.

There is nothing that could qualify as "too deep" or hard to understand about MGSVs story for the average adult. It's simply not well written.

The answer is below.

If you need to take something away from TLOU then inevitably you are admitting TLOU is better
