Forums - Sales Discussion - Why hasn't Nintendo revealed Super Mario Maker's worldwide sale numbers??

It probably helps the issue right now that we haven't really had too much of ANY sales reports since Iwata died. I don't think it's one of their priorities right now to announce that a game sold a million copies or whatever it may be at. Either that or because they're waiting to announce the Mario Maker DLC that'll be out at some point before October ends, and giving a surprise success announcement will help push the DLC.

Or, y'know, because it's not meant to be a huge seller and is performing as such. It was very clearly low budget by the amount of content we got and it's effectively their stop-gap to fill out the fall lineup. I still enjoy the game but to say it is in its current state anything more than a conveniently-timed snack to give the console something new to advertise this holiday is foolish. I lean somewhat this way, but then at the same time I don't think they would have delayed Star Fox unless Mario Maker was doing well enough that they could pull Fox back without hemorrhaging.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!
