If the NX is indeed Nintendos next home console will you buy it if it is not substantially more powerful than the ps4?... I don't think I will I think I will be done with gaming.

I will take a look at the entire picture. It would be equal to the PS4 if other things are in line such as a standard controller and actual third party support. Overall, you really need to look at everything they're going to offer... not just one thing.

I think there will be a handheld NX weaker than the PS4, Obviously, with a resolution of 540p like the vita, and a home console NX slightly more powerful than the PS4 with an 1080p resolution.
both will have the same Nintendo games.

I expect the next Nintendo console to be 200$ day 1 and about as powerful as an XBOne

It depends. I don't mind if the system is lacking in power, if it makes up for it by being awesome in some other aspect. If it doesn't have some other worthwhile selling point, then I would be upset.

I doubt it will beat the PS4 in performance, I think even wishing for it to beat the X1 is pushing it. Nintendo is just not interested in hardware power, unfortunately

I really don't think thats a bad thing. Since pretty much all Nintendo games have a cartoonish artstyle, they don't need a lot of power to look good. Just look at Mario Kart 8 or Super Smash Bros, since their games don't have realistics visuals, they don't require very much power to run. Having a less powerful console would be better because it saves money

Currently most hyped for: FFXV and Zelda U

I'd buy the next Nintendo system if it were packin' some real horsepower. Would love to play Metroid in 4K

Nintendo loses more 3rd Party support by constantly having the weaker console. Of course it wouldn't cause 3rd Party to come running to them either. However, it could build the foundation for better 3rd Party support in the future. They won't need to save money if they're making tons of $$$ off a successful (at least moderately) powerful console. Plus I don't think the cartoonish artstyle is a good enough excuse not to have an at least comparable system to its competition.

You would probably have to wait another half-decade at-least for that to become a remote  possibility.
Even High-End PC's struggle with 4k... No way would you get cheap hardware to drop in a console to pull that off in the next year or so, especially while AMD is still using 28nm.

Why release the Nx console if it is only a little bit more powerful than the wii u?
I don't understand why people say that Nintendo don't need to be powerful. Why not? In that case we would still be playing with the wii. Nintendo needs to push the limit a little further every gen.

That's why I think it will be on par with the ps4 if not a little higher.
And if it's not powerful as the ps4 at least make it very cheap like 220€ and 160€ the handeld.

Why did they release Wii if it was only a little more powerful than Gamecube?

Well they did put most of their money towards motion controls over better graphics/performance. And it surprisingly payed off.

Nintendo has the chance to make sure the chip inside their next console is 14-16nm with FinFETs technology (3D transistors that cut power usage by 50% or so). Compaired to the 28nm chips both the Xbox One & PS4 use.

Nintendo also has the option to use Hybrid Memory Cube techonogly (many times more bandwidth than GDDR5, and lower power consumption).

Nintendo just need to make sure they design the chip right.
Small and cheap, 16nm FinFETs with HMC tech, that ends up slightly faster than a PS4.

Prey they dont spend 100$ on the f***ing gamepad.

(this is the main opstical, how cheap are they willing / able to make their gamepad, the cheaper the better).

(its not viable to use 100$ on a controller when the competiton is useing like 15$, and release a console that performs the same at the same price)
