VR is taking over? Are you excited?

You should just make this the official VR thread. We don't have one and we really should, and you seem to have put together a really great start here.

Anyways! It's nice to see "Oculus ready" PCs will be available for under $1,000, but that's still $1,000. So it looks like the total investment for a Rift will be somewhere between $1200 and $1500.

I also really like that Bullet Train demo. Obviously it would need a lot of work to be a real game, but I like the way it works with the Touch controllers and it looks fun.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

"Priced as a new console."

...But it's not a new console, Sony. It's a peripheral. Like, I get that it's expensive tech, but don't lie to us, man...

...it hurts. :'-{

Not really but things like Kingdom Come might make it more interesting. Though I have a really bad motion sickness issue and can't imagine myself being able to wear one of those.

VR PCs under $1000? So basically $999. Yep, I'm sure that will have plenty of mass market appeal...

Well, I don't think the first wave of VR headsets is meant to really have mass market appeal. Just like any new tech it starts of expensive and relies on early adopters (many of whom will likely already have PCs capable of running VR) to carry the tech until costs come down. Just like with HDTVs or Blu-ray players.

The Gear VR is the HMD most likely to have mass market appeal. Since it only costs $99 and runs off of any new Samsung phone.

A thread for all this VR could be a good idea but I don't have enough enthusiasm for the thing to carry such responsibility. :)

999$ PC + 350$ Oculus rift + 100? ish $ Oculus Touch.
= ~1449$

vs

399$ PS4 + 299? ish $ (PS VR) (just useing normal Dual shock controller).
= ~ 698$ still way to expensive imo.

PS4 needs a price cut and a bundle with PS VR for like 499$.

Experianceing VR should be doble at 500$ or under, until it is, I dont think it ll gain mass market appeal.

there also the Samsung option as well. VR sells at $99 but needs to be used with latest phones that apparently cost $700. I am not sure if they all cost all that but honestly I am too lazy to look check their prices.

That's expensive! Looks like the common folk won't be able to jack ourselves into a video game for a long time.
