Forums - Gaming Discussion - So... Why everybody complains so much about Wii U's hard drive and not the PS4 one?

Because it's 500gb, where as Wiiu is 32gb.

Nintendo Switch FC - SW - 5152 - 6393 - 5140 Please feel free to add me :)

I only ran into issues with PS4 after realizing needed to clean up PS+ game and demo data. Generally I still have a good 200 gigs free space and that is with rarely ever uninstalling games no longer plan on playing.

Because the mighty Ps4 is perfect and flawless and everything about it is just amazing because the sales say so, while everything about the WiiU are just the reasons of its fail, because the sales say so.

Who wants to be able to have a 2TB console with just a pair of pendrives when you can have a limited 500GB? Who wants to put his games on the console and worry about nothing else when you can wait for the instalment, then play, the unistall it in order to leave space for more, then reinstall it when you want to play it again after some time?

Is just perfection.

I had no idea the ps4 installs the physical game on the hdd. Like, seriously?? So what are the advantages for buying physical games? I don't get it.
The wii u is criticized for it's laughable 32gb but I don't see the ps4 so much better as an option.

Also, why did anyone complaint about ps4 new version with 1tb instead of 500gb? If Nintendo did the same thong with the wii u, I'm sure everybody would freak out but Sony does it and it's a clever move.

I simply can't understand why the hate with Nintendo. Whatever they do, people will criticize them.

Why would anyone complain about getting more harddrive space? They have been doing that since last gen with the PS3/XB360 so why would someone complain about it with the PS4? And what makes you think people would freak out if NIN did?

And as for your last sentence all the companies get hate and there are people who criticize all of them no matter what they do.

On Topic:

There is and isn't a comparission at the same time. While the PS4/XB1 hard drives are indeed not large enough they still offer room to do far more than you could on the Wii U. But they still should have came with a 1TB drive to begin with IMO.

First you compare 32GB to 500GB.

Then you seem oblivious to why its necessary to install all games on the HDD. Think of this, WiiU games come on DVD type discs. Max capacity of 9.5GB. what that tells you is that a level in any WiiU game is probably no bigger than 2GB of assets that needs to be in system RAM at any one time. now imagine you needed to move as much as 5GB of assets from the disc to RAM to load up a level. and that you were doing that all from a disc as opposed to from a HDD which has average speeds that are over 4 times faster than a disc.

And then you somehow suggest that you need to "open your console" to change the HDD in the PS4, I wouldn't call sliding off something that's adequately called "the HDD faceplate" opening the console, just go look at what you need to do to change the HDD in an XB1. That's opening a console

The PS4 supporting external HDDs isn't a priority cause its the only console of the 3 that has instructions on how to change the HDD in the manual and that so doing doesn't void your warranty.

And lastly, you have options, if you don't want to go through the trouble of practicing a little data management, then you can spend $69 on a 2TB HDD and another 10 mins installing it into your console. its not a big deal.

I think you are the one that needs to think twice because Wii U uses blue-ray (25GB).

OT: That's bad and Sony needs to fix this. I won't purchase one until this is fixed.

Not to be funny but in a LOT of PS4 related threads/topics you always seem "upset" in your posts. Maybe I am reading too much into it but that is kind of what you give off. Not attacking you commenting on what I have seen. Oh and to be honest the thread creator is wrong anyway...there have been QUITE a few people who have complained about the PS4 500GB hard drive saying that it wasn't enough.

Is not upset, i´m just tired of the way people overrates some things while they criminally underrate anothers. This is a clear flaw of the Ps4, is not a deal breaker flaw, and obviously every console has its problems, but, for every time ps4has been criticized for this, wiiu has been criticized 15 times for a flaw that at the end is pretty similar, WiiU gives you storage problems with digital games and indies but you can very easily upgraded to 2TB even with pendrives. Ps4 gives you the same storage problems but with physycal games (wich is kind of ironic) and you have to buy a specific thing, open the console and install it manually if you want more, at the end I think Ps4 is even more problematic in this regard, and yet I heard the 32GB argument everyday and with the ps4 this is the second time in my life I see a direct complaint about it.

Were you not here when the PS4/Xbox One came out? Gaming websites did articles about how 500 gb wasn't going to be enough, forums were full of threads talking about how 500 gb wasn't big enough, people were complaining that you only actually got just under (Xbox One) or just over (PS4) 400 gb of actual space...honestly I don't understand how you can think the PS4 didn't get flak for it's HDD.

Yeah, that´s the trap, you can´t say nothing bad about it even if you are just being ironic, without being salty or a hater, well done! :D
