But you're arguing about something completely different than I am. I never talked about "man-hating/misandry". My point was very specific. Why fight cyeberbullying against women when it happens to men too? Such women may not be man haters, but they sure only care about their own gender. A fight should be against cyberbullying period. When you make it specifically about women, you've lost all support from me.

A fight should be about equal rights. LGBTQ people fight for marriage equality. I would never support a gay movement that wanted to change the law to punish companies harder if the boss calls one a gay slur. It should be a fight against verbal abuse in general.

Well it might seem like it's selfish but then again, where's the men raising concern and taking action against such issue. I'm sure there's plenty of men being harassed online, why don't we all join and do something about it? Maybe we don't care or we don't think it's such a big deal, there must be a reason for it. And that's probably why these women aren't mentioning men in their online harassment speech.

Just because it's not affecting you it doesn't mean it's not real.

Maybe I haven't been clear enough so far, but I'm afraid we're still arguing about different things.

If men start a movement called "online harassment of men": I won't support it

If gay men start a movement called "online harassment of gay men/LGBTQ people" : I won't support it

If any group starts a movement called "online harassment": I will.

Yes, it is a real problem but it not something that only women deal with, so why make it about women? If they want to fight, then they should fight "online harassment".

I have no problem with people who take no action. They don't feel like doing anything and that's fine. They may also think that it's not a big deal. Again, that's fine. But if you're gonna start a movement, don't exclude groups of people making it seem like you're the only ones affected.

This is a total embarrassment. Anyone who thinks Anita Sarkesian deserves a podium need only look as far as her speech where she admits she never played video games at all, she hates video games.

But she's perfectly fine inventing the fiction that is tropes against women.

Fuck this girl. (no one this mentally incompetent can be considered a woman)

Video games can be quite misognystic and yes portrayal's of female characters in games are hyper-sexualized much of the time. But really so what?

It's mainly at least a hobby on the console side at least driven by 10-25 year old males, what do you really expect? At least it's not as bad as it was in the 90s I'd say, the old rendition of Lara Croft was laughably over-sexualized, she was just a polygonal walking mass of tits and ass.

Impotent nerd rage incoming in 3...2... oh it's already here.

Why do these disgusting human beings who know nothing about anything except how to con idiots into giving them money, get to speak for thousands of people in front of the entire world?

Is ANYONE happy about this?

Anita Sarkeesian and Co., blissfully unaware that their existence has long been made obsolete by the "Report" button.

Welcome to 2015.

They get a lot of attention because a small group of guys decided to have a nerd-rage hissy fit about the issue rather than handling it in a mature, reasoned way.

A lot of the things I think she is complaining about are actually more cultural though. The video game industry is still largely dervied from Japanese culture, and Japanese culture is a very male dominated society and over-sexualization of female cartoon characters is commonplace.

They are the ones that made her famous  and this is the hilarious part to me.

Honestly how difficult do you think it is to create an online account with a male name/profile pic and put flaming comments towards these people who literally earn their whole livelyhood by convincing people that Princess Peach cries in her castle that Mario saved her and made her feel like a victim.... I bet it's impossible for someone to create such an account!

I love the Mario games, it's my favorite series, but I do admit they are kinda of mildly, but laughably sexist. When Princess Peach did the "Hi Mario, I baked you a cake", it just made me crack up laughing.

Again these games are made by Japanese designers and Japan can be a sexist culture, I mean I hate to say it, but it is kinda that way.

I don't think these tropes harm women or anything, but they aren't exactly positive either.
