They often give TV as an example of a display but imply all displays in the overall meaning

Consoles are basically any computer device that have the playing of games on a screen as it's main focus

Wiki and Dictonaries tend to agree with this concept, and it does seem logical to many of us

Handhelds are not consoles XDXDXDXD

Yeah, they are not devices designed with the main purpose of playing videogames, not at all, nobody sells videogames for hadhelds neither, in fact those are not real videogames because they are not on a homeconsole, and they don´t make profit for videogame companies, and they have been totally irrelevant in the industry of videogames (tetris and pokemon are niche)

Oh wait, now that I think of, handheld is just an adjective of...HOW IS THE FREAKING CONSOLE, a handheld CONSOLE.

To say that a handheld console is not a console is just as stupid as saying that a mobile phone is not a phone because is mobile... WTF?

Sony wins by infinite proportion. Nintendo does not have 8th gen consoles, only devices with screens.

Ok... PS3 is not included because the criteria is 8th gen consoles?

But 3Ds and Vita are neither 8th gen or consoles. And Wii U is arguably a 7th gen console.

Besides, PlayStation beats Nintendo in software sales with Metal Gear V alone.

No the WiiU is a console. But here are some questions, can you set up a WiiU right out of the box without a TV? Can you play a WiiU without it being tethered to a power output?

If you somehow think that cause you can play a wii U by only using its gamespad (and ignoring that you need a TV for initial setup) then by that kinda reasoning a ps4 is also not a console since with a phone or a vita you can play a ps4 without using a TV too.
