Forums - General Discussion - I just watched Sunshine... You need to see Sunshine!

Seriously, this film manages to nail almost everything to transcend genre filmmaking. I spent the whole film with my heart pounding. Major recommendations.

Without spoiling everything, it took a direction I didn't quite expect and not sure I liked. But overall, the movie was amazing, the emotion and art in certain camera shots were spectacular.  I really did love the movie in the end.

Also, blech, Requiem for a Dream music again...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

yeah, I wish they'd stop putting that music in trailers.

It's actually a terrific piece (I know I have it on itunes) If my version is named correctly it's called "Winter Overture"

@Stof: I saw this at work a few weeks ago, I found it to be a major let down. I went into it with an open mind and basically the last part of the film became all too preachy and it lost it's message (if there even was one). Some reviews compared it to Stanley Kubricks work. It's no where close to a Stanley Kubrick film. The camera framing and pacing was all wrong.

I had no knowledge of what the movie was about before I started watching it.

Wow my grammer sucks tonight.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Modern Sci-Fi classic, but sadly, it'll go largely unnoticed by the casual movie audience.

The movie did have its flaws towards the final reel, but much to my surprise, it was a fantastic romp with an epic ending, that had deep moral and ethical implications. I rate it a 3.5/4, for myself, but a casual watcher would place it in the 3/4 range, most likely.

You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I think coming from Danny Boyle, 28 Days Later, I expected this style, so it was not a disappointment or anything, I loved 28 Days Later and wanted to see more things like that. His choice of Cillian Murphy again was interesting, he does a good job with developing his character through a movie though.

Interesting trivia, they got their inspiration for the huge gold spacesuit helmets after Kenny's hood from South Park hehe.

And I thought that Requiem for a Dream piece was an original piece for the movie, stof...did it exist before Requiem or is that just the name of the song?  It's not a bad song, but soo many people put this music in their Youtube or game vids to make them sound cool, and big movies even do it, 300, Lord of the Rings, Sunshine...plenty others I bet.  But it's the damn Youtube videos that get to me.  Pick something original!!

It's a Danny Boyle film of course it was awesome.

I thought the film was great but the very end just wasn't as good as the rest of the film.

"Back off, man. I'm a scientist."

Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist. Especially if you think the moon landing was faked.

I'm still quite curious to know what happened at the very end there. I mean I know how to describe what happened, I just couldn't really explain it

And use spoiler tags please.

Yeah, excellent music by Clint Mansell (of Meat Beat Manifesto) in Requiem for a Dream - though the version usually used for trailers is dubbed "Requiem for the Rings" or somesuch because it's an alternate version first heard in the trailer for The Two Towers. Since then, it's been used in a good number of other trailers. It's slightly more "epic" and orchestral than the original.

Sunshine... is an greatmovie. And the Blu-ray Disc has a truly eye-popping picture. Just stunning.

I'm not sure what your asking. But this might help and obviously there are **Spoilers**
