Sympathy isn't learned, it's forgotten.

Not sure if serious but, sympathy is learned. A very young toddler has a much harder time being sympathetic than a older child. Children are born ego-centric. It explains why young toddlers would stand next to the TV and block the view when they've been told to not to do so beforehand.

And sadly, this ego-centrism is how young toddlers understand the world. So it isn't uncommon for the toddler to believe mommy and daddy got a divorced because the toddler themselve did something bad. However, the child in the video is older and has a better understanding of this situation.

Sympathy just like compassion is a part of natural morality. They don't have to be taught/learned.  The environment we grow up in is wear we lose it or learn to cherry pick when to show them. I mean the majority of world actully believes there is nothing wrong with enslaving, often times torturing, then killing another being that is capable of thoughts and feelings to feed their addiction. Then we wonder why we can't treat each other kindly.
