Forums - Sales Discussion - if Sony drops the price will Microsoft follow?

Why not a $300 PS4? That was the sweet spot for the PS2 & they can always cut to $249 a few years later.

Frankly, as far as I'm aware, the PS4 is actually cheaper to develop than the XB1, so they should be able to do that with less pain than if Microsoft were to try it.

October I could understand, due to Halo, but November? Sony has the Battlefront bundle and marketing rights, CoD marketing rights (an the inevitable bundle). If the two consoles are sold at the same price it's gonna be hard for MS to win november.

Aren't CoD and Battlefield more successful on Xbox usually ?

I expect Tomb Raider to be quite big, Fallout 4 too (Bethesda games usually ony do good on xbox as far as home consoles are concerned) and a few games released previously should have an effect (forza 6, gow hd).

marketing rights. That now all lie with Sony.

To OP, the xb1 will never be priced at the same price with the PS4. especially during the holidays. If Sony drops the price to $299, expect to see a $250 xb1.

I've read that Sony has profitted from the PS4 since launch, they can easily drop $100 and still make a profit.

That would be a gamechanger. It would put Xbone back to the trashcan and force them to cut the price to $250. I just don't know if Sony wants to piss MS off thsi hard. Also I'm not sure if it's worth it. But I know I'd love it!

The console already costs 250 Euro In Japan, so much less than $300...

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Lmao MS would have no choice but to bend over and take it. But why don't you think a $300 entry point wouldn't be worth it for Sony after being on the market for 2&1/2 years? It sets up 2016 perfectly with all the games that can move hardware (UC, SFV, FF, possibly GT7, maybe PSVR).

Yeah that's what I was thinking.  Not sure they've reached $100 price cut profitability though, haven't seen an isuppli teardown of the PS4 recently, but, it's been a bit since the PS4's launch so the manufacturing/assembling prices have to have come down quite a bit since launch.

I beleive that Phil Spencer's previous "prediction" means he is prepared to.

No, their probably already losing a little bit of money with the current price ...

Considering that Witcher 3 did much better on PS4 I wouldn't bet on the game doing better on Xone. COD is more of a MS franchise battlefield a bit less heavy on MS. But this is star wars and there are enough fans of those games out there. Don't count out the Nathan Drake bundel either it's one of the best triologies ever made and could pull quite a few x360 owners over the line to choose for a PS4.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar
