Forums - Nintendo Discussion - New Nintendo Patent For Portable NX (?)

I'm getting quite intruiged by all these patent leaks. I think they'll (partially) the NX early nexy year

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

This speculation is nice, but its kinda pointless. No one could have predicted the Wii and no one predicted the Wii U. I wouldn't be shocked in the least if they abandoned dual screens for something else entirely. And once again it will be something none of us predict.

Yup, I finding it's nearly impossible to predict what exactly device/s Nintendo will come up, but certainly they will have some of all this patents.

Nintendo could just use a big single screen and divide it into two whenever it needs it. Like most DS emulators on tablets and mobiles, the one screen works perfectly for two-screen games. That way, it could preserve BC and save on manufacturing different screens.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Actually I do remember several people kinda predicting the Wii, I did too, but the idea I had in my head looked basically exactly like the nunchaku with trigger buttons on the underside that would rumble to let the player (casual) know which button to hit. But it was more or less the same concept (motion/wand controller).

That was because Nintendo signed a deal with that Gyration company so a lot of people speculated that the new Revolution controller would be an off-shoot of that.

Maybe they'll make a circle screen, lol. They did sign that deal with Sharp for custom shaped LCDs.

I think you're going to be proven wrong on this but we'll see. You simply cannot put a high end portable chip into something the size of even the 3DS XL and not have heat issues and a unified platform needs a high end portable IMO, otherwise the console version is going to have to be crippled in horsepower too, otherwise games will not scale up and down.

They'll figure something out. If it were ultimately between keeping two screens or being more powerful, they'll keep the two screens. That's not even up for debate, especially with the console variant effectively confirmed to have a second screen now.

Tell me one game that makes decent use of the two screens with the 3DS. None of the games I own need it (although it does make Zelda games more streamlined).

Kid Icarus Uprising.

A lot of DS games use the touchscreen wonderfuly too: The World Ends With You, Kirby Canvas Curse, Nintendogs...

True, I've never played the those particular games though so I have no direct input on them. Some games really shine because of Nintendo's features.

Sin & Punishment: SS would not be half as good without the Wiimote + Nunchuck

So this new device would read the barcode on the Amiibo rather than use NFC technology? A bit weird but I guess with a barcode reader, you can do a lot more than with just NFC (ie QR codes)

First and foremost it would make manufacturing Amiibos cheaper, because you could get rid of the chip

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
