its a virus

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

It is pretty dead, given the counter part is also a bit dead in the movement. Both sides were a plague to video gaming.

Some stupid shit that started on social media or some site (think it was reddit). I believe someone tried to make a woman in the video game industry look bad by stating she was getting promotions or whatever by sleeping with superiors. Then I believe it turned into how male gamers thought and treated female gamers. Not really sure nor do I give a damn.

An out of control response to some bad situations. Kind of like every other movement out there, really.

idk man. I'd say the Civil Rights Movement was pretty warranted

Honestly, its a movement that counteracts another movement that you are either going to obsess over or be befuddled by entirely. Overall, it puts you in a safer mindset just not to inform yourself of either to a meaningful degree.

It's the "deflategate" of the videogame world... a gigantic media feeding frenzy over nothing.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

The fact that so many people see the idea of ethics in gaming journalism as irrelevant saddens me...

As a tl;dr to gamergate:
The media was crossing a lot of clear ethical lines thinking that it was "no big deal" and when people started to call them out on it, they freaked out highlighting a myriad of additional issues. At the end of the day, gamergate is the reason that gaming sites now refuse to allow someone to cover their best friend's game without disclosure. In its current form, gamergate mostly serves to keep an eye on the gaming media to ensure that they are following their own policies.

it was a response to SJW taking over videogame journalism.
and it failed, hard, gaming journalism is still infested by SJW and ethicless shitheads who push an agenda.

some of those sites went so far and published a lot of antigamer propaganda pieces.

now its mostly making fun of realy stupid people like anita sarkeesian and the batshit crazy ideas they have.
