Forums - Sales Discussion - UK Charts WEEK ENDING 12 September 2015

I was wondering if Until Dawn would have good legs and get above Gears, nice to see that it has this week.

Tearaway did about as well as expected.

I think it's time for Sony to stop targeting a younger audience. All their efforts, great, good, and bad have been flops. Tearaway deserves so much more (so did Sports Champions 2 among other awesome MOVE titles).

At this point I wouldn't mind if they gave the IP to Ninty if their fans are gonna treat it better than this.

Yes, that's about how I see it too. Did people really believe it would be above the majority of games in that chart? MGS5, Until Dawn (Youtube heaven), Mad Max (Huge film franchise), TLOUR (free with PS4s), Minecraft, Gears (the only notable XB1 exclusive so far this year), Disney Infinity (on an install base much bigger than the PS4s) ... It's ridiculous to expect it to be much higher than that. It did well and will sell enough to carry the franchise forward.

What is the function that translates chart position to sales exactly? How do you know it did well and will sell enough? What exactly is selling enough in this context?

In the context of only about 15 people worked on Tearaway: Unfolded so it's likely to be successful financially, AND it's position in the chart considering the competition it was up against.

Weak launch for SMMaker imo.

Tearaway had no promo.... LBP3 sold almost as much on a regular week vs twy's launch week....

It had a demo and adverts, which is 2x more stuff than they gave the Vita version.

It's gonna be bundle or nothing for this game, but to be honest it's probably best if they just abandon the IP at this point.  Lovely game, but a commercial disaster (twice).

Considering the general performance of games on the platform (1m being a big achieveement) I wouldn't call the PSVita version a commercial disaster at 600k, just commercially underwelming. PS4 versions openning position looks terrible but hopefully it could have decent legs like LBP3

It isn't free with PS4s.

I assumed TLOUR was bundled with PS4s as it is on Amazon US. Remove it from the list then ... It still doesn't change the fact that Tearaway could never have got near number 1 with that competition.

What about the other games that beat it? This is Tearaway's launch week. Its being beaten by unbundled games that have launched months ago. Even 7th gen games are beating it. PS3 is basically non-existent in UK charts and yet has a game beating a PS4 game's launch.

It wouldn't have been number 1 but it would certainly have been higher. That's all I'm saying. Tearaway might as well have been a new franchise given the tiny ammount of exposure the Vita gave it.
