Am I the only one worried? I'm actually thinking they delay it despite recently confirming it'll come this year. I mean, we haven't seen anything about it in quite some time and at this time of the year if it was going go be released as planned I think we would have a release date since we're soooo close to the end of the year.

Thoughts?

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I think I'm less worried than I would be considering the history of Persona. Both Persona 3 and Persona 4 were announced three months prior to their release.

We also recently got a release date for SMT x FE, which was confirmed for very late 2015. While it was originally my belief that SMT x FE would be delayed into 2016 if Persona 5 were to be released in 2015, the fact that it's that late in the year, outside of the major buying season means that Atlus could still release Persona 5 in 2015. We know that Persona 5 is getting stage presence at the Tokyo Game Show, so it would make sense to announce it then.

In any case, we'll likely know when the game is releasing in less than two days.

I definitely don't think it's coming this year.

I hope it gets a release date for this year in the West or I'll be pissed. It would suck to have been consistently told it's coming in 2015 and then a few months before it's supposed release window it gets delayed.

What's the release date for Japan? It all comes down to the localisation, obviously. There's no reason to delay the game for the west if the game is releasing in Japan this year aside from not being able to get the localisation done in time, which might be because the game itself won't be finished in time for localisation to be completed until too late in the year.

I bet the game would sell well enough in the West with just English sub-titles, given the fanbase for this franchise would probably love that sort of thing. Which would be a much easier thing to do than a full localisation. Is the Japanese release going to have English subtitles?

Probably not. They have 4 months left, they'll need a big curve ball to release it before #FE. I don't think they'll want to release both of those close together.

@bolded: There isn't one yet, which is what makes the supposed 2015 Western release date questionable.

There's still a good chance it'll come this year. Before P5, Atlus would announce their games 3 months before release. Also it was originally announced for 2014, so they must have been close to done if they were that confident in a 2014 release date. Maybe they're working on a worldwide release? Atlus did notice the interest from NA gamers.

Strangely enough, contrary to what you would expect, I'm fairly certain most of the (at least English-speaking) fanbase would prefer the English dubs. One of Persona's strongest features is its voice cast (both Japanese and English), and the English dub of Persona 4 certainly helped to jumpstart both Troy Baker's and Laura Bailey's careers.

As someone who's generally pretty neutral on the whole dub vs. sub debate (I prefer whichever one is better), I personally find the English voice cast in Persona 4 to be vastly superior to the Japanese voice cast. In Persona 3, they're about equal, though.

Lol, no. They would be stupid to release it in the remaining of the year.

I'm now filled with determination.
