The first Mario that I owned on console was Sunshine, or Luigi's Mansion if that counts.

Super Mario World. Played all the older ones not long after.

Oddly enough, I didn't play any Mario games early in my gaming career. You could argue Tetris Attack for the Game Boy because of the Yoshi sprites, but honestly it was Super Mario 64, probably in 1998 or so.

The first I played was Super Mario Bros 3 on NES, yet I haven't bought any Nintendo console before 2004 (I played on Playstation and Sega before). The first Mario games I owned were Mario Sunshine if we count 3D and NSMB on DS If we count 2D.

Mine was Super Mario Land. My first game system was a GB. I never played a console Mario till SM World 2.

Donkey Kong. Then they made a Donkey Kong cartoon (with Mario and, if I remember correctly, DK Jr.). I was hooked!
