I have to question your motivation to come here and downplay the studio in this way. Especially considering the nature of the OP, in which it is stated the new studio will focus on creating CG assets. What you've done so far is derail the thread into a meaningless bashing session, and I can't help but question your agenda here.

I have no secret agenda if that's what your on to ...

Yes. They are taking advantage of their customers by releasing games they want to play.

That's so totally lame of them.

Then I guess we're all cool with the milking thing then ...

They're making different titles from a game genre they excel at. They're not milking anything. 3 games in a franchise in 6 years isn't milking. They're called sequels, all of which are of great quality and polish, all of them build on the fondation of its predecessor and bring something new, and there's a market for those. Dark Souls 3 will be the last game in that series, and Miyazaki is moving on to something else after that.

You don't like their games. That's fine. They're not for everyone. Why not move on to something else, instead of downplaying something you clearly have no first hand knowledge of?

That is a lie when these games have their clear intended audience ...

So I'm not allowed to downplay anything like almost all of us have been doing at the start of this community ?

If you have a bone to pick with then just come out with it ...

So no sequel can ever be made by any developer. Because if they do, they're simply taking advantage of their target audience. Screw the audience for wanting more. Sequels are bad, and people should just want to play other kind of games after they've played a given title.  They want to play more of that game type? Pff. Screw them. We're not making more. We wouldn't want someone who doesn't play our games to accuse us of doing shameless milking when we're in fact giving our customers what they want from us.

And if we don't see a Dark Souls 4?

Or something similar ...

Or nothing new at all then we can just wait for the next E3 or TGS ...

Oh please. You probably hated Fallout 3 because it's Oblivion with guns

Huh, Video games forum.

fatslob-:O got it correctly. Fromsoft IS milking system they established from Demon's Soul.

...And what is so wrong about that? There is nothing inherently bad about Milking. If they make their sequel somehow worse, that is their fault for making bad games, not milking itself that is problem.

Yearly sequel isn't inherently bad, but the sequel being bad is. Dark Soul and Bloodborne does well because it delivers expectation. Call of Duty's downfall was not repeating same formula over and over, but somehow getting worse in map design, presentation, story and multiplayer features on the way.

And this new studio? It is probably made to reduce the hassle and recycling they are doing in order to keep up with current generation's expensive and time consuming development process.

I don't care if they are releasing yearly or not as long as they know what they need to improve, alter, and continue.

COD : Ghost / AC3 was a spectacular failure because they missed what made them great in haste to make something new. Ubisoft later understood how to carry their series forward while Activision didn't. That is how I view this. (Of course, then they screwed everything up by making game unthinkably buggy.)

And in era of unreasonable development cost, sequelization became kinda mandatory too...

More darksouls and bloodboorne incoming they want to milk them to hell

It's as I feared ...

They are going to keep milking the sh!t out of the idea behind Demon's Souls ...

I am disappoint, I don't understand why hardcore gamers are praising them for been like how Ubisoft handles AC or Activision handling COD ...

because they make good games. Seriousley have you played a souls game? Comparing it to call of duty like franchises is an insult.

Assassin's Creed and COD are fantastic games too, calling a comparison between them an "insult" to souls games is an insult to those games.

We all have opinions ...

I think I can compare it to COD when it comes to milking the idea and that's exactly what From Software is doing ...

I don't think it's even remotely close.
Call of Duty resells the same stuff to you, and has been doing it for a decade every year.

From Software is still to have any of the souls games in a following year to their predecessor.

Demon's Souls - 2009
Dark Souls - 2011
Dark Souls 2 - 2014
Dark Souls 3 - 2016

While Bloodborne is a different IP, even as it's taken as one of the Souls games, but has different gameplay and mechanics and is set in a different era.

Barely and just like CoD.

Barely? Yeah... no.

In Bloodborne weapons are few and change sizes and adapt other gameplay functionalities you have guns, you are faster and not affected by weight, enemies provide you a chance to recover life when taken away. Demon's Souls had events that would interfere in the game difficult and some weapons actual power and your life status.

Bloodborne is really a different game than the Souls games, even as Demon's Souls is also different to Dark Souls, those too is understandable to group, but Bloodborne is not.

And as I said, CoD is yearly and has been for a decade, none of the Souls or Bloodborne IPs have gotten another main game in a year base.

Two totally different scenarios.

Add to that:

- Bloodborne is a huge massive homage to H.PLovecraft

- Neither of the games milk dlc and season passes like COD

- the level design of not genius is borderline genius. The same can never be said about any COD or in that matter any FPS. It's Inception level badass.
