Imagine that you are suddenly in charge of X company which owns the rights to X IP and that you can decide what is done or not with said IP. You decide that for whatever reason an IP that you love could do better by being outsourced to another developer that you think can make a great game, give a nice spin to the forumula of the game, or actually do something worthwhile with the IP, considering the approach the developer has with their games.
Maybe the company you are now in charge is not doing anything with said game, or seems to have lost it with what you may consider unworthy sequels to a franchise you once love, and now you have the power to give that IP to a developer you think could make a great game from that company's IP.
Example:
Give: Zone of the Enders to Platinum Games
Reason: Platinum Games makes nice hack n' slashers and they could revamp the battle system of ZOE.
Like that.
Don't forget to write why you believe X developer could do a great job at developing X game from X company.
