Forums - PC Discussion - So Apple is selling a $99 stylus?

Couldn't you use any stylus though?  Or does that charging thing communicate with the ipad and ensure only the Apple "pencil" is activated and being used to shoo away those pesky cheaper options.

I don't like buying off brand products. Same reason I don't buy controllers not made by console manufacturers.

A stylus is kind of different than controllers.  Sounds like there is a removable cap on this one but this isn't working parts really.  Controllers you have buttons.  A stylus is a stylus.

How are these stylus better than say a 3DS or Wii U stylus?  You would be amazed what people draw on Miiverse with such a limited stylus and touch screen.

Apparently the stylus simulates paper friction. If that's true, that immediately makes it literally a billion times better than a DS or Wii U stylus. I'm a pretty talented artist. I've tried to draw on the Wii U tablet. It's a slippery nightmare.

I don't care that it's different. I wasn't saying its similar. I'm saying my reasoning is. For another example, it's the same reason I only buy brand chargers. I don't care which is better, because I like the uniformity.

If its better then the wacom stylus its worth the money.. I have a 80 dollar wacom stylus for the iPad.. The Pencil looks better to work with to create drawings.. Especially the lag time.. I would pay 150 dollar for an almost zero lag stylus for the iPad

When you are a graphic designer making working on projects costing 150 dollar per hour, this is a time saver.. Did you see the video how precise you can draw? Almost lagless? With all different pressure and tickness? My wacom stylus was 80 bucks.. I'll gladly pay 100 for a better version.. Sure its not for average Joe but this is probably gonna be an Industry standard in Graphic Design.. Underpaid interns used to scan my sketches and then had to trace the lines in Photoshop.. This is like 10 times faster.

Seems like you are the target audience for this particular item.  Myself, having no artistic talent, I look at it as a disturbingly overpriced piece of plastic.

Yea, not sure how they do it...  I'm not a good artist but here are a few of my drawings...  Gets the job done but nothing that compares to some bad asses on Miiverse.  They must take a lot of time doing the drawings.

As you can see I have a tough time even making the writing line up.

So this is for the people at Starbucks.  I mean graphic designers.  I'll watch the video but I doubt I'll be impressed seeing lagless along with the different pressure and thickness.  Sure there is a market for this kind of product I suppose but only people in a very small field would actually benefit using this than a regular stylus.  Seems like a niche market to me.

If they build it, they will come

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Of course its for à niche market.. Its only for the iPad pro.. Who's gonna buy an iPad Pro not in the Creative Industry?
