Forums - Gaming Discussion - Not really a bold prediction: MGSV is GOTY

GOTY?

MGSV 73 26.26%

Witcher 3 64 23.02%

Halo 5 9 3.24%

Rise of Tomb Raider 2 0.72%

Fallout 4 31 11.15%

Bloodborne 37 13.31%

Xenoblade Chronicles X 20 7.19%

Other 14 5.04%

Splatoon? 28 10.07%

It will certainly be up there. I dont think anything else comes close in terms of core gameplay.

However, never underestimate the likes of Fallout.

The majority of the gaming media have already decided that Fallout 4 will be GotY. It would have to fall flat on it's face for that to change. Pretty sad really as there look to be several games worthy of serious consideration this year.

Definitely loving MGSV so far, though I'm not sure it tops Witcher in my book. It's close though

Not much competition in the sparkly AAA space, easy win.

So a mainline Souls, Halo, The Witcher, Fallout, Batman, Forza games in not much competition?

Do you still think there was competition?

I'm enjoying Rise of the Tomb Raider more than any other game this year.  So it's my pick for GotY.

And yes, I've played most of the games on the list (minus any Sony exclusive).

It makes me sad that you're not even putting StarCraft into the mix. I know it won't win, but it's a bloody StarCraft!! And it's the last one for many years

For me GoTY is going to be either Witcher 3 or StarCraft II: LotV.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

After playing for a while, Fallout 4 is my personal game of the year. I thought it would be Undertale for sure, but Fallout is just too pretty damn good! I might love it even more than Fallout 3, but I'll need some more time with it to know for sure. MGSV was also good, but imo it doesn't have a chance against Undertale or Fallout 4. Well, but the year isn't over yet and I still have to play Call of Duty, Halo 5, Tomb Raider and some other titles.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

MGSV is terribly incomplete, I put 180 hours into it, and although the gameplay is good is disappointing that it never escalates, enemies adapt, but they never escalate, you never see tanks patrolling instead of little trucks in free roam and there are no walker gears either, is really sad. And the fact that the story is unfinished is even worst, I like the game but The Witcher 3 deserve GoTY more.

I'm still thinking it might be Xenoblade for me. I'm heavily disposed to JRPGs though. After that, I enjoyed Witcher 3. Uncharted collection was pretty great.
Splatoon was perhaps the most original.
And I'm gonna get Bloodborne in a few weeks. Given that Dark Souls 1 is one of my favourite games of all time, I think that has potential for me. Also, I think it's interesting how far from grace the Arkham series fell. Arkham City was the highest metacritic score of its year if I remember rightly and was insanely well received.

If MGSV gets GotY from any respectable sites, I will bite myself on the ass.
