from what ive played of mgs v so far, it doesnt deserve goty

Which one you'd say deserves it?

hard for me to say exactly with fallout 4 and halo still not released, but if i had to pick a game for me personally, id say Bloodborne as my personal goty.  I don't hate MGS V,but it just doesn't seem really worth it as a game in general. There's really hardly any story and most of the missions are just copy and pastes of each other, doing the same thing over and over. It reminds me of just going in the straight paths and fighting monsters on FF13,that's how repititious it has gotten

Now when story elements are actually taking place in MGS V,it gets really interesting, but story elements in the game are too far and few in between and barely take place at all and its a shame.

Splatatatatatatatoon!

On a serious note, I think Bloodborne, Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3 will win some of the many goty awards, as well as MGSV. Just like GTAV, TloU, 3DWorld and ALBW won various goty awards out there. But I think the main goty will be Metal Gear's...

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I will be surprised if Fallout 4 doesn't win more. MGS is a japanese game and most big english gaming websites are american, so its usually an american game that gets the most awards.

As for who deserves the title, its something each one of us decides upon.

I have lost interest in MGS after 3 and 4. Still enjoy rising, but i'm not interested in more prequals or wrapping up of a story i already know how its gonna end.
Fallout is a totally new story, so chances are that will win my GOTY. Though theres contender Xenoblade X and who knows Persona 5.

Yes it is, in hype land.

I vote for Xenoblade X, but unfortunately it has no chance.

Maybe that's for another reason as well though. To put it simply most good games are American games. Both Europe and Japan can put out some very high quality games, but they just don't seem to have the quantity of good ones that America does.

USA + Canada is much bigger than Japan. Japan probably makes more good games relatively speaking.

Splatoon (let's be honest, it would probably be 90% on metacritic if it was reviewed as it is now), Super Mario Maker, MGS V and Bloodborne are some of the best games this generation (and I'm just listing games that released this year). Xenoblade Chronicles X and Persona 5 also look promising.

Well when people are deciding which games to give GOTYs to they just look at all the good games, they don't start saying 'oh that game comes from a smaller country so we should give it bonus points'.

I'm just adding on to your posts because some people might misconstrue it as "Americans make better games".

But Japanese games are usually aimed at Japanese gamers and they do have different taste than Americans. So you can't ignore the bias when most GOTY awards are given by American sites.

Thats the nature of the beast. When the biggest market was Japan, japan would win most awards aswell.

It will probably be the GOTY for the majority of the press, except if Fallout 4 is a HUGE surprise.

But i don't think Fallout 4 can be so great....we will see.

Still have a whole quarter to go...
