This will be huge among kindergarteners with mobile phones. I don't know how big of a percentage of children that is, kids here still prefer to chase a football instead of a virtual pet. But I guess in Japan there's more of a market for it.

Yeah that explains all those fat kids playing COD while drinking Mountain Dew.

Around the Network

I think it will be popular but not even as half popular as a handheld Pokemon.

It'll be really popular, though it could easily end up as a fad... only time will tell

Nintendo is going to have to try really hard to prevent it from being a 2 month fad like most iPhone games

You must have missed the AR part of it. As you traverse the real world, you can 'encounter' pokemon in the game through AR.

As far as smartphone games go, this may be the one that gets kids outside more than any other Android/iOS game.

Ask yourself this: If you ran advertising for Nintendo, and you got a chance to have an ad on the Super Bowl or World Cup final, what could you put your money on? A WiiU/3DS game or this?

Pokemon is globally very popular.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Sure, kids are very active when it comes to traversing the real world. Parents take them everywhere, at best they walk to school or to practice. It's going to be interesting to see 9 year olds taking buses to the city to find a pokemon in a supermarket.

And I would not advertise Nintendo in either event, as those are more aimed at adults. Advertising Pokemon in the NFL would be like flushing money down the toilet. When have you seen a toy commercial during Champions League? It's more of a beer, car, banking (adult) market.

Around the Network

It will be huge.

Here are some features I'm expecting for them to have on this game:

1. Big events like a legendary pokemon appearing near your area just like shown in the trailer and needs some people to fight it. I don't think anyone can catch it. The one shown in the trailer maybe just an event for defeating a pokemon boss.

2. For pokeballs, I think all type of pokeballs can be purchased through either money or gems except for master balls that surely can catch may be only obtained via gems or certain promos/events.

3. Definitely this will have AI opponents to obtain some money in game without the need of looking for people always or you can fight your friends even from afar whether they're online or not.

4. I just hope they make a nice feature of the pokemon store or pokemon center. Like for example for the pokemon center to make it more realistic, you can make a certain places in the real world a pokemon center and pokemon store.

I just hope the pokemon will still look nice and compliments with wherever landscape they're currently on.
