I think you can fairly put three on that list, and can't really rank them.

First was the atari joystick, then came the original NES controllers, and finally the playstation controllers that basically looked the same ps1-3 till they copied xbox's design this time around (currently my fav controller).

I think the first two are more iconic, but the latter is more likely to be recognized by younger people.

Lol @ppl saying others are more iconic.... How? When the DS has kept same form factor for three- four gens .... DS4 evolved into something far greater too and still looks like a DS

Saying this is admitting that the SNES controller is the greatest controller of all time.

C'mon man, the Wii U Pro Controller and the GamePad are way worse.
