If we look Nintendo line up last two generations, only 3D platformer that we have is Mario.
We definitely need more 3D platform games, DK 3D have great potential, but also with Kirby or Yoshi Nintendo could make good 3D games.

Ehh.
3d platformers haven't ages well. Basically there aren't any modern 3d platformers that are any good besides Ratchet and Mario.

Mario is proof that Nintendo still can make great 3D platformer, they certainly can make great 3D platformer with DK, Kirby or Yoshi only if they want.
One 2D and one 3D game from francaises like Mario, DK, Kirby and Yoshi per generation would be great and very possible to do, especially with NX unifying platform.
Assuming NX is a unifying platform, so that Nintendo only needs to worry about making games on one system, it would make developing the games a lot easier so that one 2D and 3D platformer, (and spin offs for Mario's case) would be much easier to pull off. And it would give them more flexibility to do things with their franchises in terms of different kinds of games and genres....
You just gave me an idea for a thread!!

It depends. 3D platformers are a dying breed so it needs to be an interesting concept. Unfortunately games like DK64 are not as appealing these days. I feel only a select few franchises can really make a proper 3D platformer.
IMO a DK adventure game would be more interesting as a 3D project.
