Forums - Gaming Discussion - Does exclusivity increase your enjoyment of a game?

Is it better if it's exclusive?

Simple question.

There's so much focus on here about list wars of console exclusive, manufacturer exclusive and games other systems are lacking and they are constantly used to justify who has the best console.

So I was just curious, do you automatically get more enjoyment out of a game if it is exclusive to a console?

Personally, I play games, I like to play the best version of a multiplatform game if possible yes, but if that is not available to me, I will happily play it on a format I do own. (the only one I'm currently missing this time around is an XOne and that's because the lineup is too similar to the PS4 and a fair few games release on PC so most of it is covered).

Come on guys. everyone is so vocal about it on here at the moment, we have entire threads dedicated to listwars. Do you really care if a game is exclusive?

The way i see its just that if certain console has certain game that i like and i can't play it anywhere else it is obviously one more reason to buy the console but that's it; the answer to your question is no, as i can't see what one thing has to do with the other (me liking the game)

Well nor can I. But you look at the level of excitement a game like Devils Third had been creating before release. Had it been a multiplatform game, I highly doubt it'd have been on anyone's radar after last year's E3 showing...

It just seems to be a key aspect in whether many on here consider playing a game or not.

Definitively. My favourite games ever are exclusive because I get a sense of satisfaction whenever my company of choice puts games on my console of choice.

Exclusivity increases my enjoyment of that particular system, but not the game itself.

Depending on how the game is made is the absolute only way it can increase (or decrease) my enjoyment of the game.

In a way, yes.

When I play games like Smash or Splatoon, the factvthat I'm playing a game that's only on one llatform does make it feel a little special and charming to me, which is always nice.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

No, not because it is exclusive. But secondary factors like being designed purely for the system, can then result in a better game, but due to the nature of exclusivity we can't compare to see if it did have an effect or not.

PS, PS2, Gameboy Advance, PS3, PSP, PS4, Xbox One

Nope, but it does increase my enjoyment, knowing that the other guys can't play it. 😈

Makes you feel like a pretty squiddy princess, amirite?

Not at all. That said, I do enjoy list wars mainly since I see nothing wrong with people arguing over which console is better. It means nothing in the grand scheme of things but it's quite an enjoyable hobby.
