If this was 2013, maybe. But now it's a little late. Just ride it out and get it right with their next system.

Waiting it could be worse. Who knows how manny fans nitnedo has lost, if they can gain a few more fans before the next one hits it would be better. I really think that if the price was good enoughf, a lot of people would try it and see all the great games they have released so far and might consider the NX. But as it is now, who will say the NX is a first day purchase?

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

By now, it'll do more bad than good... especially more so considering Nintendo's 3 major games this year (Splatoon, Super Mario Maker and Star Fox Zero) all make good use of the Gamepad.

From what I've seen and played, only Mario Maker does. Not Splatoon, and definitely not the abomination.

You haven't played Splatoon.

It makes great use of the gamepad.

Isnt the only things available on the screan a map, then when you die you can click a friend and warp to him? something that can be done with a list, since it only happens at reaspan, and a regular minimap on the big screen.

Nintendo knows Wii U is a failure, they're not going to do anything at this point to help it in a major way, so may as well just leave it as is.

Exactly this.  Furthermore, with Mario Maker set to release it would be utterly catastrophic.

No offense, OP, but about 500 of these exact type of threads have been made, almost literally since the launch of the damn thing in 2012.

The controller has never been the problem. It was NoA's shitty marketing. That's been discussed ad naseum in countless threads.

At this point, Wii U is what it is. It's not gonna "catch up" to PS4, so there's no point in worrying about it. Enjoy the good games it does get, and move on. If Nintendo wants to spur sales, then they need to drop the damn price THIS holiday season, have some new bundles ready, and advertise the fuck out of the thing.

And even then, it's not ever gonna catch up to PS4. So I say, oh well.

Lets face it, the Gamepad for the wii u has got to go. Something MS realise soon enoughf and debundled the kinect. The Wii U has barely crossed 10 mil in theesse 3 years and they themselfs have said that the Wii U is in a bad position. Then they are planing the release of the NX soon, witch will cut the legs of the Wii U inmediatly, wich there are rumors that it might come as early ass 2016 hollidays.

I know this is not the first time someone sugested to get rid of the gamepad, but litsen.

The Wii U will oficially die as soon as the NX gets anounced, not even released, but as soon as nintendo shows what it is and when it might come people will wait for it or skip both.

This will create another sega situation, where they cut the life of a product to soon and people just lost trust on the company. To avoid this, they should separate the gamepad, that way they can reduce the price. inmagine how well a $200 Wii U with a pro controller would sell like. This will at least buy nintendo another year without releasing the next console and consumers wont loose as much trust.

The main reason the Wii U is not selling is the price in my opinion. At $300 its dificult to consider it, while the next best thing is a $350 X1 with much better graphics and full third party suport and multiple bundles going around that offer many free games. Only a die hard fan would choose the Wii U ad theres not that manny of them cuz they havent released manny of their key titles yet, or ever will ass it looks like.

Im all for them seing value in it and all, but its to late. They have barely shown any need for the thing. If they are not even going to try, why force it upon people and jack up the price. At least give the poor console a fighting chance before the next one comes up.

I have no idea how to " loose" a game pad.

Try to do at least ONE good deed everyday....

Seeing as how we are now getting a game that takes complete and total advantage of the screen on the GamePad, so much so that the GamePad is required to play that game in the first place, ditching it now would be a terrible move.
And on that topic, I feel that the Wii U would have had a better launch sales wise, and would be selling better if it had Super Mario Maker as a launch title, (that and better marketing), because that game does exactly as I said, take complete and total advantage of the different elements that the GamePad brings to the table. It would have had it's killer app right from the get go, instead of 3 years later where it's too little, too late.

Way too late for that...

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

I will agree with that as well.
Camera movement and aiming is so much more smooth and fluid with the gyro controls, plus having the ability to set the movement and sensibility of the gyro controls as a plus.

It uses a combination of gyro controls and analog sticks for perfect shooter controls that are much more fun to play with than your traditional dual analog shooters. You can't do that with just a Wii U Pro controller. You can jump to your friend or a specially placed beacon whenever you want, not just at respawn. You also need the gamepad to use the ink strike special ability. The arcade minigames while you wait in lobbies in between matches are also played on the gamepad screen.
