Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What If The NX Console Is Portable Too?

Throwing out another idea/concept.

NX is basically a "console". But the catch its controller can transform into a functional portable.

The main "console" base is based on low-power 14nm FinFET AMD chips.

The controller has an LCD screen on it like the Wii U tablet does, except it's not as bulky/clunky, infact there's a nice hollow space in the middle.

Console has roughly 1.6 TFLOPS of processing power, but the thing is you can remove a "docked" top portion of the console and slide that into the controller and now it becomes a portable handheld (350 GFLOPS) that can run the same games scaled down to a lower resolution (1/4th of 1080P or less) for when you leave the house.

So you can play at home. Then when you feel like playing on the go, simply remove the top portion of the console (which would be small) and slide it into the controller like an old school game cartridge. Voila. Now you can play the same game(s) on the road.

Console dev kits are designed with an API that is designed to allow developers to easily scale games up and down with variable resolution.

Around the Network

Thanks for the bump Miguel. Turns out this line of thinking was pretty darn close to what Nintendo was thinking.
