Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why does Nintendo sell GBA games on the Wii U and not the 3DS eshop?

Cause Nintendo is weird sometimes.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

3DS Ambassador Master Race .

OT: I have no idea. I was glad they gave me all those exclusive games for buying a 3DS early on, but I wouldn't exactly feel bummed out if they would now release those to the regular VC after all these years. So I'd say go for it.

The ambassador games has barely support for any features of VC, only reset and quit to home menu (no home menu in game). They are not emulated, the 3DS starts them in DS mode which in turn starts the GBA mode on DS, only modded to recognise the home button/touch screen. Read somewhere that full emulation proved to be hard to do.

Yep.

they choosed not too just like they choosed not to make another F-zero, there is no logic behind it, they just do what they want to do.

Same reason why 3S don't have SNES games, they wanted to make Wii U more attractive.

The Ambassador games run natively in GBA mode from the DS backwards compatibility.

I'm not sure if a 3DS could emulate GBA games. There are some GBA homebrew emulators for the 3DS and they can't run games at full speed.

Well, there is no reason. The Ambassadors got 10 GBA games didn't they? So what's the friggin' issue!? And, and there should be a whole thread about why Pokemon Red/Blue & Gold/Silver aren't on the eShop. I mean like...come on Nintendo. People are pirating these games on Android and iOS like it's nobody's business. It's not because we want to, it's because you choose not to put a Gameboy Color game on the eShop. Thanks Nintendo. :D

Pokemon, it's real easy answer. What is the 1 feature everyone would need working in those games. The trading function. They have to reprogram the games to accept the 3DS hardware. And virtual connections. Now people have to figure out how to do that. Then deal with bugs. All for how many games, 6. Then people would want to internally trade between the emulated games. Another thing they have to figure out. Can the system access the save file from another game. While running another. You can release them and ignore the trading. But then the games would be incomplete. And all the bitching happens.

Then you gotta make sure the US versions work too. Remeber the US ones where reporgramed from Blue version. So more issues and bugs would have to be dealt with. In addition to the team working with the japanese versions. Nintendo orphaned R/G/B/Y G/S/C from the rest of the series. Because they didn't want to get a link system working between the GB line to GBA. Now you're asking them to do it all virtually. Yes. The series makes money. But if they don't do it when R/S was coming out. Would they bother when it's a just a VC release. And their was more money in it for them. They could of sold another 4 million special Link cables/adapters.

Still, people are downloading illegal ROMS of the game and playing them without trading on Smartphones. It's like, you want people to pirate rather than pay ?

And to answer your  stuff, I'm no programmer, but I know I've seen harder things done in gaming adaptations. Plus, trading was more popular back then than it is now. I don't really care for it anymore myself. I just want to relive the game. Didn't Nintendo add online modes to Street Fighter II on VC? I mean, it isn't impossible and it isn't developing Metal Gear V or anything. I think it's more of a connection issue rather than actually implementing the trading. Nintendo, and any company in general, don't like running old servers and online connections. I mean, people will buy the games just to at least play them again. Nintendo didn't care about including online on the Mario Kart DS release on VC.

There's one thing with people pirating and not getting all the functions. VS the company who buit the game. Would get flack of it not 100% usable. Pokemon is unique. A lot of its functions are through trade. Not everyone thinks the same. You or I wouldn't care if the trading didn't work. I gurantee a lot of people would bitch and moan. You need to show those harder things. Give examples. Nintendo at the end of the day probably see it like this. One: It's more valuble to keep it off VC. So they can make remakes. Or things people want from the older games, in the newer ones. Two: don't want to deal with backlash. Three: Nintendo is a bunch of retards. I just side with them not wanting to release it. With its missing main feature. And hearing the hate.

You want me to explain why Nintendo is Nintendo? That's a difficult question :P
