Forums - Nintendo Discussion - RUMOR: NX Platform Details, Both Console & Handheld

I call this fake, white, heterosexual and feminist.

Wii U successor having an optical drive? Whatll that be for? Wasn't this supposed to use the same media as the Handheld as some speculated, or be 100% digital? Lol.

  • NNID is tied to the single device, but it will allow to share details between platforms, like friend list, contents, local coop games, etc. Thanks to the new membership program (the successor of Club Nintendo), we'll benefit from the new Nintendo policies in terms of rewards

I can't see Nintendo tying NNID to single device on next platform too.

How would one person have this much knowledge of dev teams, hardware, information, patents, and Nintendo business plans. Sounds very very fake. On that note though it doesn't sound half bad.

Yes, all this things are basically what Nintendo mentioned in some way or based on recent Nintendo patents and some logical assumption, without something new or some surprises.

Totally fake. It reads completely like the average Nintendo fan's guesses into what the platform might be with no real new insights and a bunch of "safe" (and sometimes silly) bets. No way NCL would allow a leak like that either, it just reeks of BS and lame assumptions.

For example, Nintendo fans think Vita technology is somewhat expensive for Nintendo.

You wanna know what Vita tech costs today?

I can find you a $109 *retail* tablet that has the Vita GPU, the PowerVR SGX544 (this may actually be slightly better). This same tablet also has a much larger, higher res display than the Vita (7-inch 1280x800 resolution display) and a much larger battery than the Vita does with more onboard flash RAM (8GB) and more RAM (1GB vs. 512MB + 128MB).

Vita tech is *ridiculously* cheap. Even Nintendo won't go that low tech for the handheld, it would not be able to even handle cross gen Wii U ports very well, the Vita can barely handle many PS3 ports as is, we know for the most part most Vita games have to be built from the ground up because that hardware can't run PS3 engines. So how are you supposed to have a "unified" platform when one of the platforms can't even run the games.

I can find you a $90 *retail* tablet that has the Vita GPU (slightly better actually I think) the PowerVR SGX544 (this may actually be slightly better). Cheap tech that they can sell for an ultra competitive price like £140 (same launch price as the DS), sounds like something Nintendo would do especially as being a bit more powerful then Vita is still a big jump over the 3DS.

Rumor or not, that sounds really good.

Nintendo can get a much better processor even for the price you listed for 2016 let alone 2017. They likely won't be using a 7-inch display with a 3800 MaH battery either (totally destroys the Vita).

Beyond that the unified platform concept does not work with a handheld that weak. The iPad/iPhone are relatively close in hardware power so naturally they can run the same apps .... the Vita GPU cannot run most PS3 engines, let alone Wii U engines, so the console would have to be less powerful than the Wii U to have any meaningful unification via software.

Sooo a bunch of informations:

The NoJ Employee that gave the author of the original topic all this information did so because she doesn't agree with the company decisions and she hopes Nintendo becomes more open with R&D.
With NX Nintendo's goal is to make a development environment that can vehicular game project to multiple devices (hope the concept is clear), them beeing either consoles, handhelds or even smartphones, but at the same time keeping exclusive features for every version of the games. this is supposed to drastically cut development prices that atm are really high for Nintendo since they currently have two extremely different devices.

What I get from this is that Nintendo plans on releasing games as they did with SSB4 at the same time (it has been specificated later in the article) on various platforms so that they can increase earnings.

Going on : how could releasing the same game on various platforms give more choice to gamers ? Well, players will be able to SYNC THEIR SAVE DATA ACROSS PLATFORMS , this will be possible either Online or locally so that they can continue their game with different features.

talking about the NX consoleS Nintendo's aproach wii be divided in two parts:
the first is the Handheld (look at the specs on reddit), but in the original it sounds more likely that it could have 720p, making it on par with the newest engines. The Employee says she can't say how will it be but she says that it was really hard for Nintendo to make this Handheld BC, especially due to the game support.

didn't really get what she ment here, probably it's because they use a different type or cartridges or maybe because of the sharing system with various platforms...

A very Important part of the handheld will be the anti-piracy systems, proven extremely effective on the 3DS. this anti-piracy systems will be also on the NX Home Console, which will periodically check the various programs on the system making it even harder for illegal programs to be used.

The Specs of the Home Console are for shure the sore point for TFLOPS fans, because the system due to the cross-library of games, won't have much horse power, reaching the levels of the current competition, but I won't specify how much exactly, since we're still talking about targets. Of course the games that will be playable both on handheld and home console will get upscaling, cleaner textures, faster loadings, optimized filters and in the best case a specific version with better models.

I'll try to translate the rest of it later, but the biggest fact is that there is a confirmation of an unspecified new gimmik

Honestly the only leak for the NX that I think is very reliable is the Nikkei one, but most fans don't want to believe the source (that Nintendo was using Android).

But Nikkei has been dead on in the past ... they wrote an article that the 3DS XL was coming, Nintendo denied it, then announced 3DS XL like a month later.

They ran an article saying Nintendo would make smartphone games, Nintendo denied this, then like 9 months later they announce they're making smartphone games.

Even a while ago Nikkei ran an article stating Nintendo had made a deal for a Seaman game on 3DS. Now this game never showed up, but we learned from the Seaman creator just recently that he was indeed working with Nintendo on a Seaman 3DS game that just never got out of the early development phase.

So they've been a perfect 3/3 more or less and they definitely have sources inside Nintendo. Most everyone else is full of shit I think.

IMO NX will likely use a Nintendo OS, but with some kind of Android back end that allows for Android apps to run on it or be ported across extremely easily.
