Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo posts mobile game developer job listing for NST

"Over the past few years, NST has been known for working on Nintendo titles Mario vs. Donkey Kong. But it’s possible that the studio could be getting its feet wet in the mobile space as well.

On Nintendo’s job listings website, a post has been put up for a mobile game developer software engineer over at NST. This person will “play a key role in helping Nintendo build fun and engaging mobile applications and games as a member of NST’s game team.” Additionally, they must also possess “working knowledge of iOS and/or Android SDK’s.”

I don't know about this.. Maybe I should apply for that job? I bet I would do an amazing job.

I guess Nintendo is starting to buckle down in regards to the whole mobile thing even more so now.
As an aside, if I remember correctly we are suppose to see their first mobile game come out this year. It's already September and yet no news. I guess we'll just have to see how everything works out.

NST more lately has been focused on utility applications for the WiiU/3DS than games.

It's probably more likely it's position to develop mobile apps for the NX ecosystem, with a little game dev on the side.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I hope that their games are at least half as good as Metroid Prime Hunters. I loved that game!

Guess this means we'll be hearing about something related to mobile soon enough...

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Well it was to be expected. Since they said they would be the ones that develop the mobile games and not DeNA. Hopefully this means they are thinking on making a development team that just does that and smaller games.

So, PKMN shuffle isn't Nintendo's first, true, forray into the mobile market? If so, that makes me feel much better. I highly doubt that Nintendo would mark their entry with a game that already exists on another platform. Their first moblie game would most likely be a Mario game. As for the genre, it could be anything.

It was developed by Genius Sonority and published by Nintendo. Pokemon Company - which is a Nintendo subsidiary, by the way -  just published it for mobile. It´s still a Nintendo game.
