Forums - Gaming Discussion - ITT: We make the perfect FF using past FF's

What elements do you use to make the perfect final fantasy game?

Here are some options, feel free to add your own to the mix.
Combat style and optional styles
Weapon period types (guns vs swords vs magic etc)
Equipment range (lots of different equipment vs upgraded equipment)
Equipment availability (chests vs drops vs crafting)
Map limitations (travel locked to transportation, travel locked to storyline)
Environments (full multi-tiered open world vs segregated areas)
Characters (large cast vs unlockable cast vs temporary cast)
Story (fantasy, medieval, fantastical, modern)

Basically, I want a game like tactics with job classes and lots of characters, with all the hunts and pilgrammages fleshed out into actual quests, combat like ff15, and open world-ish like 12.

Copy/paste Final Fantasy X.

Make it as similar as FF9 as you can.

I liked 10 a lot, but I felt the cast was largely inexcusable. Costumes were atrocious. Interactions were poor.
Only characters I liked were Auron and Yuna

you need to check if the fans would pick action type of combat or still turn based system? and interchangeable playable characters, most fans doesn't like a single character as your only playable character.

not a single one of what is unimportant?
EDIT: Oh wait, I see what you mean. The current trend has been to control one character.

I agree, I like party based as far as the story will allow.

Combat needs to be turn-based, the story and setting need to be medieval, game needs to be open-world/nonlinear and it also needs a large cast of characters!

- I definitely would make my perfect FF turn based
- I am a fan of the steam punk / modern setting (Think FF6, 7, 8, 10, even possibly tactics)
- I would want full control of my party and have job classes (Like FF5 and Tactics)
- Characters would need to have real differences (Some are stronger therefore better optimized certain ways compared to other characters, etc)
- I like chasing drops more then crafting, though some crafting is still fine (and chasing crafting loot can be just as rewarding)
- I like having a combination of modern weapons like guns with swords and magic (to me this is the hallmark of steampunk)
- I like having an open world map, but I am open to time / story lock limitations if it makes sense for certain areas
- Environments....Get rid of the Corridors, I'm looking at you 13
- Characters - I usually like having a party of 3-4 people active and having at least that many in reserve, so my sweet spot for playable characters is probably around 8-10. I am perfectly fine with temporary members if the narrative makes sense.

The ability to have an all female team.

bad english. lol

yeah, basically most RPG gamers wanted to have a party-based/multiple playable characters that we can enjoy with. rather than a single playable character to the whole game, which sucks.
