You'll notice that humbledgamer has been banned.

However, I will warn everybody on the other side of this of the rules.

"13. Insults and flaming. Attacking other users for any reason is never acceptable.
You should avoid:
Insulting a person's religion, religious beliefs, race, sex, sexuality, nationality, political beliefs, gaming preferences, etc. Debate is encouraged, as is civil disagreement, but respect the beliefs and opinions of others.
Insulting any group without proper justification."

Blanket attacks against a religious group can earn a moderation. Tread carefully.

As long as you're making sure you're drawing a distinction between the religious group, and the religion, or it's tenets, there really should be no problem.  Criticizing the ideals, is not criticizing the followers.

Then shouldn't her boss have fired her immedately and issued the licenses him/herself? I know I would have.

Her boss is the government, its a public service. Ppl should learn with this woman how to get arrested/heavilly fined/fired without effort, she demonstrated it perfectly, in just under 1 minute she managed to get herself a lawsuit with possible jail time, fired and fined, all that under gods authority, shes a master. Props.

I actually have a modicum of sympathy for the woman, when she was first appointed to the job there was no conflict for her and she likely never imagined that she would be charged with a trial like this that goes counter to her faith. However, as an official of the state, a representative of the law, if her conscience prevents her from doing her job then she needs to step down rather than make a ludicrous spectacle of herself.

I'm in favor of gay marriage but I also think that someone should have the right to say no to marrying a couple if they so choose. Especially if it is against their religious beliefs.

Then you're not in favor of gay marriage.  You can not say that gay couples should have the legal right to marry while also saying that gay marriage should be left to the discretion of individual clerks.

It's like saying, I support desegregation, but I also think that a teacher should have the right to say no to teaching a black student if they so choose.

But she had no problem handing them out to people who were already divorced before, who´ve eaten shellfish, who shaved their face, who commited adultery etc. All "abominations" in the eyes of god. If it was really her religius beliefs then she wouldn´t ignore 90% of what the bible says

I'll be praying for her. God's design for marriage is the best plan, and I am so proud of her for sticking up for what is right. The law is just that: law. It is made by people to follow their whims and has never been a compass for morality.

Jesus gave us the right model: "A man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and they shall become one flesh". Go God.

I agree.  The law is just that: law.  Yet she is no longer serving the law as she swore on the Bible to do. She did not take an oath to protect her own beliefs or serve God in her office, she swore to the state to uphold the law - and she is breaking that oath.

"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment."

Maybe she should follow that passage, since she likes to pick and choose.

What religious beliefs? She has violated several Biblical laws pertaining to marriage due to her adultery and repeated divorces. She's a hypocritical bigot who ignores the Bible when it applies to her own life and only uses it to pass judgement on others.

She shouldn't have been gaoled, she should have been given a verbal warning, then a written warning saying that she will be terminated unless she issues the licenses, and then been fired if she did not obey.

It's in the constitution, you cannot establish religion. And that means you can't apply your religious beliefs to the lawful engagement with agencies of the local state and federal govt.

Loving the hypocrisy again coming out of the Republican candidates. They wrap themselves in the constitution any chance they get, but they are quick to ignore the constitution when it impinges on their desire to impose their religious beliefs on everyone. Oh well, just another day in politics I suppose.

Jailed for this? Something's not right.

Lawlight defending a blatant homophobe? I'm shocked.

I'm defending someone whose punishment far outweigh her crimes. If it's up to some of you, she'd probably be shot.
