Forums - Gaming Discussion - Should EA continue to ignore Nintendo?

If they think they will make money on new Nintendo hardware they will return, this applies all 3rd party. Pretty simple.

Eh. Like, if the NX is successful, they'll be back. They don't have anything against Nintendo outside of a lackluster product that didn't sell.

Absolutely this.  People seem to make up a lot of stories and ignore the simple fact that there's no money in developing for Wii U.

EA Kojima'd Nintendo before it was cool.

We REALLY need likes in threads on this forum, I laughed soo much for this comment

EA can rot
Nintendo doesnt need EA

REQUIESCAT IN PACE

I Hate REMASTERS

I Hate PLAYSTATION PLUS

If they want to ignore Nintendo then I don't see a problem with it. Their games wouldn't do well on Nintendo's consoles and I doubt most Wii U and 3DS owners even care for EA's games.

Not sure If anyone has posted this yet But I remember Emily rogers wrote a very good piece on this which I think everyone should read

I alluded to it earlier but, yes, EA and Nintendo have very rarely seen eye-to-eye.  I think EA has zero faith in being able to sell games on Nintendo systems unless they have a massive installed base behind them.  Part of that is because of the audience but the other part, the part that bothers many third-party publishers, is that Nintendo has historically done very little to push sales for anything but their own software.  The rise of Playstation and Xbox gave publishers and developers alternatives that were willing to work with them for mutually beneficial results.

I don't know that EA wants Nintendo to fail, exactly, but I am pretty sure that they think it's much more advantageous for them if Playstation or Xbox is the market leader.

That's a good sensible post. I imagine that probably most, if not all 3rd party publishers prefer Nintendo not to be the market leader purely down to the fact that their games wont sell the type of numbers they would on a market leading Playstation or Xbox.

Quite frankly, Wii U owners have ignored games from numerous major publishers. EA, Activision, Ubisoft, etc...

The Wii U audience is primarily interested in exclusives and casual stuff. Anybody that disagrees simply needs to look at Wii U software sales.

I feel core gamers already know the best place to find core games is on Playstation and Xbox. If Nintendo wants to become a relevant platform for core gamers they need to do more to attract 3rd party developers.

Nintendo has core gamers and games..Splatoon is a core game. Mario, Donkey Kong Zelda and co are core games. You don't need mature content to have a core game, I imagine a lot of these "core gamers" would weep playing something like Tropical freeze.

EA went as far as to have spokespersons and their own executives, talk crap about Wii U OPENLY.

They basically called Wii U trash.

I understand that money is the most logical choice as of why they're ignoring Nintendo, but they were supporting past consoles even if software sales were bad. I believe there is something more, and I wouldn't doubt for a second that they don't have a beef with Nintendo after the whole online thing fiasco....

You don't go from getting small revenue from software sales and keep supporting, to announce a partnership or whatever, and two months later proceed to publicly insult Nintendo.

This is why I hope that if NX (or any other Nintendo console for that matter) becomes an incontournable success and EA comes crawling back, that Nintendo just tells them to hit the door and get the hell out of there

do you any numbers about wii u´s digitale sales to back this up?

Literally every singly financial report nintendo has ever issued.

specific numbers?

EA will go where the money is, and Nintendo is not where the money is right now.
