Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Prediction : Microsoft will drop the xbox one price to $300 this holiday (permanent price cut).

I think the Xbox One will drop the price to $300 this year and take a loss. They wouldn't mind taking a loss on the xbox one if they can make up for it in game sales ,xbox live subscriptions, accessories, ect. Microsoft seems to be more about the Xbox brand as a whole then making a profit with the xbox division because to them it seems xbox is just one huge advertisement and a way to make gaming more relevant on PC and of course push windows. They would've left the industry already if was about profit. Does this sound far fetch to any of you?

Sure, why not.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I wonder how much they'll be losing per unit by then ...

I think Snoopy will continue to post only about XB1 unless its negatives.

Funny, one of my first threads was about how timed deals are stupid and Microsoft should invest into their own games rather than Tomb Raider.

I think they will raise the price back to 500

A $300 price drop doesn't make sense with new $399 and $499 SJYs,

I belive that Microsoft is much more confident in Halo as a system seller than you are.  I think we could see some $299 Black Friday bundles, but remember they had sub $300 SKU deals last year as well.

Therefore, I belive that Microsoft will ride the Halo wave with the price intact allowing them to make as much as possible and then have incentives for Black Friday.

True, Halo will push xbox, but the biggest selling point for a typical consumer is the price and where their friends are playing. Microsoft must understand that a lot of people own the ps4 and they might want an xbox one for games like Halo, gears, forza, tomb raider (this year), ect.. , but they have to make the console easier to purchase for them. Microsoft benefited quite a bit dropping the xbox one to $350 , but they need to keep lowering the price. Not to mention there are going to be people who are going to jump in the next gen console scene this holiday.

Um...I guess it's possible. But, considering how much MS has been pushing "The best lineup in Xbox history!" I think they are banking on their games to sell the Xbox rather than just being cheaper than Sony.

I think at the earliest MS drops the price of the Xbox One again around the time Uncharted 4 launches. Late enough to still make the extra money from the holidays, and it might have at least a small effect on the Uncharted bump.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I can see this happening.
