I really don't think most people really cared, it's just that people were looking for Xbox points.

The gaming market may or may not care but majority of it has it. Just the current Gen Sony fans lack it. Everyone else has it.

So what. Sony is winning by a huge gap and they don't have BC.

Are they winning? Pretty sure Ninty has sold the most hardware so far this Gen.

Why does it need to have an impact on sales and why would it? Obviously Sony fans are just upset they don't have it. Ofcourse you're gonna downplay it, you weren't even given a choice lol.

well if it has an impact on sales means its really that important or that its a must for gamers which its not.  Like I said, its good to have it doesnt mean its a feature that I need yes or yes.  Last gen I bought the ps3 with BC and only used it to play one ps2 game so its not that I am downplaying it, its just that for me its not that big of a deal.

How would you even know it had an impact lol? Again this all just comes off as damn I wish Sony had this simply feature.

Has it helped the Wii U? Idk, but it seems small at best. I think it helped the PS3 significantly because being BC with the highest selling console of all time is necessary. People and companies need to look at factors in what would make BC worth it.

Has not having it helped Vita?

This. Thats why BC is good, it HOPEFULLY keeps companies from rereleasing due to consoles being backwards compatible.

Just because backwards compatibility exists doesn't mean publishers will stop rereleasing games take for example the original gears of war game been BC on X1 while a ultimate edition just released ...

Nintendo could have easily added backwards compatibility for GC on the WII U yet they rereleased Wind Waker so it's not like they have the best intentions either ...

We do not justify if a rerelease is necessary or not so let the consumers determine that for us ...

Yes and no. It won't be a huge factor, but for some people it is. A lot of people didn't buy an xbox 360 or own one and this can help is become more noticeable to those users or people who own a lot of 360 games and looking for an upgrade. I am calling it now, the xbox one biggest selling factor this holiday will be Halo 5 and Microsoft dropping the price of the xbox one to $300. I remember an article stating 360 game sales went up as soon as Microsoft announce backwards compatability.

Because 3DS had 4.5+ years whereas PS4 had less than 2 years. PS4 has no signs of it slowing down at all, outselling PS3 by a longshot, no huge big guns this year, yet has 25M+ installbase. Just wait until the end of the gen and Sony will win.

Of course sony will win, Playstation is the biggest brand name of the "Big 3". Microsoft is doing better with xbox each generation, but they have to buy out big ips (like gears and minecraft) in order to keep up with Playstation.

All I read was an excuse but lets not derail the thread any further.

I don't think it'll do much to drive sales, but it's a good feature to have. It does more to pump up the fan base than anything else I think.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
