I think a 3rd person Metroid game would be awesome....as long as its developed by someone capable enough of course! We all know what happened the last time they tried to make a 3rd person Metroid game.

I said their person shooter, which was never done. Other M is not a typical third person action game anyway. It's a poor way to make any third person game.

OK then! But the question still remains, who would develop it? I don't see any of the current 1st/2nd party ( maybe Retro, but even then I'm not too sure) studios work on something like that without being crap.

No reboot is needed. Give us an HD, modern Prime 4 with online multiplayer that uses two analog sticks and we're good.

No, Metroid Prime's combat revolves around strafing.

Go away with your inferior dual analog control set-up. We already have dozens of mediocre FPS every year.

...having a dual analog set up doesn't equate to becoming a mediocre FPS. Bioshock's already been mentioned quite a bit on this thread, but that game, at the very least, is an example of how you can still have a game focused around exploration while still keeping that control scheme.

Personally I think it's time to move on from the Prime format as well, but control scheme is hardly the reason.

Bioshock and Metroid are two different things. I fail to see why people ask for the worst possible control set-up known to FPS.

People barely use dual analog in Splatoon for a reason.

You make alot of interesting points. Bringing the series into third person would be awesome, but would have to be executed in such a way that the transition from 2D feels more natural instead of jarring. I also agree with you on the characterizations of Mother Brain and Ridley. They are essentially monsters and should be feared as such. And a big time YES on the different Metroid forms being more present in the games. I get that the larval stage of the Metroid is more iconic Nintendo but the later Metroid stages are far more creepy in my opinion and much more difficult to contend with (easy to see if you played Metroid II).

I'm honestly not so sure about their being audio logs though. Reading what an alien species has left behind on your own feels more foreboding than hearing them talk about it. The Zero Suit also never really bothered me. It does cover Samus' entire body so I fail to see how it's sexualized. And let's face it, if Samus were to take the Power Suit off or whatever, she would have to be wearing something skin tight so her clothes don't get in the way. The picture you provided could make a reasonable substitute however.

All in all, you made some awesome points though. If the series were rebooted in this fashion I would be all for it.

The picture of what you think the Zero suit should look like is quite gross btw. How many women would want to be seen in that?

They're two different things, certainly, but the point is having a dual analog system doesn't automatically make a game a standard mediocre FPS, and exploration style games can be pulled off with dual analogs.

I'd personally prefer having alternate control schemes on the table, but I'd argue it's going too far to just completely throw it out.

Oh, that was just a hyperbole on my part.

But I hate aiming with dual analog.

I agree that if a nintendo game needs a reebot its metroid, but not with the ideas you mention.

Why not? What spemanig describes sounds like a damn good Metroid game.

You answered your own question, it seems like a good idea to you. ;)

what is the Game on the first gif?

Im sorry but your thread is dumb, Metroid was fine up until Other M in fact the entries were more consistent than Zelda. Other M was the first and only bad metroid. I will give Federation Force the benefit of the doubt until its released. So nothing needs to change they should definitely stop with 2D and focus on the 3D as they have already reached the magnum opus of 2D Metroid with Super Metroid. Focus on 3D FPA Metroid cause 1. Its a genre that is lacking on Nintendo systems 2. the FPA Metroids are more acclaimed than the 2D ones with the exception of Super Metroid. Nintendo already has enough 2D action games with indies filling that void. From a business standpoint its not financially viable it would be a silly idea for them to do it.
