I dunno. I bought the game before any of this stuff was announced. They made a game, I bought it, I played it, I liked it. What do I care if they re-released it on another platform with more stuff? In the same vein, even though amiibo implementation like this has annoyed me in the past, I feel like I have no reason to be bothered by it since it wasn't even announced until long after I had already finished the game. Plus there's all the upcoming free DLC that didn't factor into my decision to purchase the game; that stuff is all just icing on the cake.

Nintendo fans. Yeesh. Third parties give us the extra-special editions of a bunch of PS3/360 games, we complain they're just late ports. Shovel Knight is a late port on Sony & MS platforms, we complain we didn't get the extra-special edition. Hey, guys. This game is either missing content or a late port on virtually every platform it's available on. Don't play the victim.

For what it's worth, the 3DS version does have an exclusive StreetPass mode. It's light, but they still made the effort of giving the system something unique.

Also, I'm calling the OP out. You say you heard great things and you want the game, yet you offer no explanation for your failure to buy it in the six-month window between its Nintendo release and its announcement (along with that of the exclusive boss) for PlayStation platforms. I would assume you're one of those people who is allergic to digital games, but you mention Shovel Knight costing $15 on all platforms. If you were solely interested in the physical release, you would have used the physical version price of $20.

Alright, what extra-special editions are you talking about besides Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Darksiders II, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2, because I'm legitimately curious. I complain about Nintendo fans not buying third party stuff all the time, but I don't endorse people paying full price for lesser versions of the same game. I've really never minded getting a late port if it's feature complete, but I don't think third parties have much right to complain when said late port doesn't sell super well.  My failure to buy it in that time period? I don't have money. I'm getting money soon. Quite simple.

Deus Ex Director's Cut is supposedly the best version of the game on console. Arkham Knight Armored Edition was supposedly pretty good too. Technically Bayo1 is also a late super special edition since it's not only the strongest technically speaking but it has the extra Nintendo content. Other than those, there weren't any to my recollection that were special/updated. Well, Mass Effect 3 at the time was the best version in terms of value because the DLC was included, but obviously EA didn't care after that much was added, so that's not a special/definitive version by any means.

I did hear a lot of complaining about games like NFS/Batman/Deus Ex/Darksiders being delayed ports from Nintendo fans when in reality in those cases we got the best versions at the time. Nintendo fans do like to play the "we're getting shafted" card quite often and quite quickly as soon as something goes wrong. It can get a little pathetic at times when fans complain for no reason about getting third party support and then when we do get third party support all we hear is whining.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

My only problem lies with the amiibo. Developers really need to avoid the idea that locking content behind physical DRM figures is somehow okay. It's dumb, it's a rip off, and it limits the spread of content through BS like limited stock or otherwise.

Director's Cut got to other platforms. Arkham City is arguable as it has exclusive stuff, but it runs worse. Mass Effect got some of the DLC for free, but didn't get the last several pieces of DLC at all, as well as not having the options of bringing save data from 1 and 2 to 3. Like I said earlier, I whole heartedly agree that a lot of Nintendo fans don't buy third party games for the system and then complain when they don't get it, but I don't think they should buy inferior ports.

People like you are the reason Nintendo is in trouble.

Alright, I knew I my opinion wasn't going to be popular, but please explain.

I was just being ironic. Your opinion is absolutely valid.

But you know there are people who would claim you need to support Nintendo no matter what they do, especially since they are in a bit of a slump.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

"Inferior port?" Give me a break. It's a friggen 8-bit game! There's no way the X1/PS4 ports could be better.

I am not claiming that the Wii U version could be worse, but i'm pretty sure this game as it is could not be realized on any of the old 8-bit systems.

Ah now I see. I really wish there was way to see tone through text, Sorry :-/ Yea, I'm aware of those Nintendrones who think supporting everything that releases on Nintendo platforms is the way to go. They infuriate me about as much as the ones who get only Nintendo games.

gonna buy the wii u physical version. I'm not supporting the amiibo

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I got it a long time ago, it's awesome!

I'm looking forward to the Amiibo too.

If you don't want the Wii U version, then get it for one of the other consoles,

Does there have to be more than a few instances? I had originally singled out Most Wanted, but decided it wasn't the only case of that happening, so I adjusted it.

As for the money, I've been there. You are excused. It brings up an interesting observation, though: you mention buying the game physically, but used. But the game costs $20 physically, and will most likely be a limited release. I doubt it will ever be available for under $17 used, and it may actually grow more expensive if it becomes rare. On the other hand, in the past the game has been on sale in the eShop for just $10, and I'm sure it will happen again. Are you really willing to pay more for the game just to spite the developers?
