Getting Super mario galaxy 2 to run on the wii.

Every now and then i go back and play some old games. At the moment i'm playing super mario galaxy 2 and i'm glad to say it hasn't aged one bit and it plays and looks as good as i remember, in fact it looks better than i remember. The colours really pop and the character models such as bowsers look amazing in boss fights and even the lighting is fantastic, especially in the lava/fire levels it really stands out.

Now call me mad but i think it outshines Super mario 3d world in places. I know 3d world uses more polygons, has superior lighting, has better effects and is in hd so therefore is far more graphically advanced but for some reason SMG2 looks more vibrant and seems to have a little more visual flair. Super mario 3d world is a great looking game i am not saying it isn't because it is but the art design is a bit different and the camera is angled differently so that is maybe why i prefer the look of SMG 1&2.

Anyway i'd just like to applaud Nintendo EAD for producing such amazing looking games on such an old console. I remember the wii era and how many awful looking games there were but nintendo showed what could be done with a bit of technical wizardry.

Agreed, the graphics are really awesome considering it was on the wii

I want SMG3

SMG is my favorite

Both of the Super Mario Galaxies looked genuinely very impressive for the Wii.
They were definitely both cases where artistic style trumped graphical prowess.
I think Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 are examples that are applicable to the Wii U.

I'm surprised nobody voted for SM3DL here... Definitely my 2nd Favorite 3D Mario... Next to SM64... Never played none of the Galaxies however... if they ever remake them most def try them out..

Galaxy 2 is the magnum opus of 3D platforming to me. It offers great platform challenge, replayability, the best controls and mechanics, and just so fun. Nothing topped Galaxy 2 by a longshot.

I might say that Twilight Princess being on Gamecube was more impressive, but Galaxy and Galaxy 2 are really ridiculously good looking.

I need to buy a wiimote and nunchuck and really take advantage of the Wii U's backwards compatibility.

I would say Nintendo was getting a lot out of the Wii with several games. The Galaxies, Skyward Sword, Other M (from a technical standpoint only, obviously), the original Metroid Prime 3. Not all have aged as exceptionally well as Galaxy and Galaxy 2 but they still show how good Nintendo is at getting down to the metal with their development.
