Re: Age of Ultron: Sorry, but it just wasn't very good. It tried to do too much, and it was clearly not the most well thought out addition to the Marvel cinematic universe. It mangled some character relationships, jammed in villains turned heroes with one turned dead, and overall it felt like Ultron had potential as a villain that was really squandered with mediocre writing throughout the rest of the film. Maybe I'm getting tired of super hero films, or maybe the current iteration of the Avengers is starting to fall flat. The most fun I had with a Marvel movie in the past few years was seeing Guardians of the Galaxy, and I feel like a lot of that has to do with the fact that the only relation it had to the Avengers plot line was Thanos and an Infinity Gem. Overall, Age of Ultron falls right into that category of movies I've seen once that I don't plan on watching again. It was, at best, a 7/10, most of that 7 being because the action was generally decent.

then you missed a lot.  I've listed it for someone else in this thread already.  Ultron was much more devloped than Joe.  The characters are all pretty much more fleshed out especially the ones with solo films even though they had way more characters to cater to.  Mad Max is trying so hard to be cool by including guitar flame shooting and wacky rides and midgets and stuff but in the end I watched it twice only to leave disappointed in the lack of narrative and mediocre overracting by everyone other than Theron who was pretty great.  Those other women were painfully bad as was the warboy they took aboard.  Hardy was decent though his grunting felt very awkward at times especially at the end (mmmm mmmm my name is Max.  That's my name hmmm mmm).  Joe was a one note villain.  So yeah I can give it credit for epic effects work both in the chases and in the storm and for Theron's performance but other than that it was just aciton drivel.  At least Ultron had some nice tense conversations and a villain who had a true journey from savior to destroyer (if you think he started out intending to kill everyone watch the film again because you missed his dialogue)

I'm impressed, especially at the people who value Road Warrior above every other movie, that you people still haven't realized Mad Max is supposed to be a Yojimbo kind of guy. He changes the course of the story by being someone completely unrelated to what is going on. Just like Mel Gibson, who only wanted some gasoline for his car in Road Warrior, Tom just wanted to drive away from that madness tower. They both got caught into something bigger, and they had no other way to carry on but by helping the people.

Indeed, and i think that's the right way to make a Mad Max movie. In fact i loved Tom Hardy as Max, even if he had to share the screen.

Though It would be a mistake to bring Furiosa back if a sequel is made. Her story was told already, let someone else, woman or not, tell a new one.

To be honest, i agree with Lucky.

I don't regret seeing Age of Ultron, but i wouldn't really care enough to watch it again. A lot of things felt rushed or shallow: The romance between hulk and romanoff, quicksilver dying, nick fury appearing from no where. They tried to recriate the first one, but Ultron is nothing near Tom Hiddleston and the jokes were old. 7/10 is pretty spot on. I wouldn't really include it is a list of ''must see'' hero movies.

While despite the short plot, i easily give a 9/10 for Fury Road. Already saw it a second time, and just by talking about it, i want to watch it again.

Obviously, just my opinion.

I am on the same boat. Saw it twice already and I plan on watching it two more times when I show it to my sister and parents. :D

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Saw Fury Road twice and that was plenty. Saw Age of Ultron 4 times in theaters and can't wait for the phase 2 bluray set!

One sentence in the trailer sums up this whole movie: A two hour chase scene with no plot.

Except there is a plot. A decent one at that. Immortan Joe is looking to create a successor. The problem is, with radiation and all, turning out a normal looking baby that is entirely healthy can be very, very difficult. Thus, our good buddy Joe took the most viable women captive, the flawless women that showed no signs of radiation taking its toll, in order to basically sex them repeatedly until one of them had a normal, healthy, male child. Formerly a loyal soldier, Furiosa catches wind of the plight these women are facing and hatches a plot to save them. All of this happens before the movie even starts of course, but it's not hard to pick up on. It's revealed later on that Furiosa felt she could save them, as she had formerly come from a "green place" that still had seemingly healthy vegetation. That was the safe haven. It was the goal.

Then you have Max, who gets super unlucky and gets captured by some War Boys under Immortan Joe at the beginning of the movie. He has the misfortune of being a universal donor blood type and turns into a blood bag that War Boys use for transfusing clean blood into their irradiated bodies. He gets pulled into the chase that begins when Furiosa goes off course, as the War Boy using him wants to join the chase as well.

Thus, while Furiosa is defending her truck filled with Joe's "wives", Max is narrowly avoiding death time and time again as he's dragged around, looking for any out he can get. Finally, after driving into a sandstorm, things hit a bit of a climax when Max ends up freed (sort of), and when after, Furiosa deems fit to stop to give the women some air. This leads to the meeting between Furiosa and Max, where a decision has to be made by both whether the other is even remotely trustworthy. As the chase goes on, you realize Immortan Joe is a well connected fellow, and see the lengths he will go to in order to get back these women that he seems to have gained some emotional attachment to. Whether or not it's because they're seen as the only viable breeders around or not, or if it goes beyond that in a weird way (seeing as he takes them captive) is hard to say. As well, you see Furiosa and Max develop a trust between them as survivors and warriors that carries them through the chase back to the Citadel after the realities of the world they find themselves in becomes apparent to all.

In goes on and on. It is really not hard to find the plot and themes in the movie. In fact, it's so glaringly obvious, I don't know how people miss it. Yeah, it isn't the most sophisticated plot to grace a screen. No, they don't spend the entire movie having conversations that conveniently spell out plot points in the most obvious way possible. It's more subtle, yet still so obvious. The way effects are used, with practical effects prioritized over CGI, is pretty awesome too. I think it adds something when everything looks so real, since at some point during production, it almost all was, even if it ended up getting pieced together in post.

People love to try to crap on the plot of Fury Road, but honestly, I'm starting to think those that miss it are so oblivious, the film wasn't meant for them anyways.

This is what happens when people want everything spelled out nd explained out, no use of sublte story telling or something that recquires people to think and figure the world out, one of things that made age of ultron a bit annoying , a tonof exposition for things that werent that interesting

Fury road's a great film

LOL @ NO PLOT

........ and it's not like Age of ultron dialogue is amazing or anything.

Characters rarely, if ever, utter more than one sentence. Cheesy one-liners, one after the other. Where is the dialogue?

Watch Game of Thrones and go back to Age of Ultron and try making a comparison. It's not possible. Go watch Up In The Air and come back and tell me Age of Ultron's dialogue is great. You can't, and that's fine.

Superhero movies aren't trying to convey a message or a deep story-line after all. Marvel has found the winning formula and they are sticking to it. No reason to change it. But please don't try to pass these movies for more than what they are; popcorn flicks.

this , marvel movies are fun , but they have certain beats and vibes that are becoming stale and they generally know and acept what they are ( fun popcorn flicks ) , which i think ultron at times wasnt trying to be and ended uo being detrimental to the movie
