Forums - Sony Discussion - Killzone SF engine has IMO produced the best-looking games this generation so far.

SF had poor AA (otherwise looked great) and UD has horrible faces + framerate
RAD's engine blows it out of the water

Shadow Fall still has some of the best AA of any currently released games.

While Until Dawn looks quite inconsistent, in certain scenes it's faces are among the best seen on a console this gen, the only games that really beat it are from top tier Sony studios or the bigger partners.

Order 1886 and Driveclub are absolute contenders but I suppose kz sf engine has been used for open world so may be considered more impressive

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Killzone looks fantastic especially the cutscenes, but DriveClub's engine still takes the cake for me. I did not play the order but it looks more impressive. Killzone and Infamous are to far apart to be compared but it is the best looking open world game on PS4 and I don't see anything out now that has come close to that level on PS4. The Witcher 3 included but being so huge takes it graphical toll although it still looks quite good.

I really want to see more games in other genres that take full advantage of that engine's features. Really want to see what that thing can do.

Giving that game the best weather and lightning effects, but fire effects look horrible. But the lightning being so great and models so detailed  (250 polygones per car, so imagine a water type bossfight created with that engine) you simply don't give a crap.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

SF had poor AA? Surely you're talking about a different SF, and not Killzone: Shadow Fall. Which had some of the best AA in any console game.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Until Dawn doesn't seem particularly impressive graphics wise to me. It looks good rather than spectacular, but I won't fully judge it until I have seen it properly myself.

Never judge a game through online videos never looks as good as it does in person.

Fire effects? I've never managed to set my car on fire, not for lack of trying. It is amazing what they can do with 250 polygons per car! ;)

I would love to see a flight sim game with that engine. The fly overs at the start of some of the tracks look amazing. It's strength is indeed that lighting and water effects which practically come free with the material based render engine. Tombraider with this engine could be awesome. (An actual tomb raiding game that is)

Driveclub vs KZ sf

Both look much better in motion though. The lighting is great in both, I love the night racing and dark sections in KZ SF yet KZ SF looks a bit better in full daylight. Rain looks much better in DC.
One thing I hope to see improved on is the MADDER sound system from KZ SF. It added a lot to the immersion to hear sounds change based on where you are in what type of environment.

FXAA is poor. And it did look more jaggied than other first party games

Lighting and some effects were great though, and aesthetically it's one of the better designed Sony first party games in recent years. But due to being a launch game(that did not cut corners in content or general production, unlike others) they had to compromise on AA and some textures on minor object until vram usage on ps4 was more optimised on their side. Horizon will show it's true potential

Whoops forgetting a k there I meant 250k polygins pro car, the exhaust fire looks horrible though which still counts as fire.

The Order pisses on anything released so far. its by far the best looking game out there.

Until Dawn definitely has it's moments, particularly Peter Stormare's scenes, but I think Uncharted 4 still takes the lead here, looking at the beginning and end sections of the E3 2015 trailers, particularly the extended version that is definitely the best looking game of this generation so far.

The Order 1886 is a beautiful game too, but I still think that Uncharted 4 beats it out.

Horizon is amazing for an open world title, definitely the best looking game within that genre so far, the cut scenes of Aloy and her partner who looks like he's training her look phenomenal.
Killzone Shadow Fall still holds up pretty well, definitely beats games on other consoles, but compared to the PS4 offerings it's been beaten.

I can't wait to see what Sony Bend, Santa Monica and London Studio pull off in their major PS4 exclusives.
God of War was always a major contender within the visuals department, Bend have some amazing technical talent within their ranks and London have been the second largest studio at Sony for a long time, they haven't put out a major exclusive in years, there were some rumors of a big AAA title being developed around PS4's announcement, so any of these studios could have some stellar stuff in the works, all are technically capable.
SCE Japan have also been rumored to have a few new projects in the works for PS4 exclusives, particular a massive new internally developed RPG similar in style to Final Fantasy.

We'll see what happens.

london studio have been working on the london hiest, which is now a full game.
