It seems to me that the only thing games like fifa can do now is become 'more realistic' with emotions and this and that and blah de blargh.
And then I play rocket league, and I love it. And I care about it much more than any fifa i've ever played. Rocket league isn't a game focused on realism, it's a game focused on fun. Pure unadultarated fun! FUN! F is for friends, U is for u and me, N is for anywhere, anytime at all...woohoo!
I think, EA and 2k should make one version of each of their serious sports games (fifa/madden/nba) and turn it into a service-based game, similar to what SFV will become. So one fifa per gen, but it will be supported throughout the gen with minor yearly updates and maybe yearly fair-priced dlc for those who continue playing. These updates can be done by small teams, and therefore allows all the EA Sports devs to work on new stuff in addition to supporting their respective sport game. New IP's, or new games. EA would probably earn less per sports franchise, but would be balanced back by how much they make of the multiple new titles. (Strong new IP's have done well this gen. Destiny/Bloodborne/Watch Dogs)
Whatcha think bruvrins?
