No, it's not a better business ! Amiibo are a short term solution, just look at Skylanders, it was a huge success 3 years ago and now, each year less skylanders are sold, and by the next two to three years they will probably be gone forever. The same will occur to Disney Infinity and of course Amiibo.

On the other side, vidoe games aren't a short term solution, you can live on it forever. There's no need to worry about amiibo taking more money, time and interest than video games, it will never be the case. The same applies to Activision and Disney.

It is usually a short term solution because it burns out the customer, like Nintendo is doing... too much too fast, they should be planning better, they have not finished with Smash amiibos line-up and we already have Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Mario Party, Mario Maker, and more in the pipeline. Slow down a little, people are getting saturated and throw us a bone (a fan pleaser), instead of more amiibo give us a limited edition of Fatal Frame for USA, you know mix it up a little and leave amiibos for the line-up gaps.

So basically, you want them to stop providing something that is selling well, that has functionality that ties into a variety of games, in order to produce a retail version of a title that will probably struggle in America anyway (and will please all of a few thousand people), because of "saturation", even though most Amiibo are released without fanfare? Or are you suggesting they restrict their attention to Smash Amiibo, and thus leave themselves unable to release titles that have special amiibo functionality built into them, like Chibi Robo or the Animal Crossing games?

Basically, you're asking that they release fewer games. Especially considering that most of the non-Smash amiibos are being launched alongside their respective games. Using them to fill gaps would contradict the whole point of their existence.

Wow, that line up is bad. And I can't believe they are selling bundles for $300. The console needed a price cut a long time to go.

i thought the line up is good.  it lacks 3rd party though, but I'm not expecting 3rd parties to jump in.  And most of these games are already been announced way back before.

Great line up looking forward

Released without Fanfare? You mean with lines? crashing of websites? limited per customer and huge followed pre-orders?, they are getting more attention that the games themselves.

I don't want them to STOP, I want them to slow down, the functionality added to most of the games don't require new amiibos (Mario Party can use the same as smash, they only needed to release toad and that could be the bundle instead of Mario), same applies with many of the new series, yarn yoshi does THE SAME as smash yoshi and mario party yoshi, gold mario, silver mario and regular mario does the same. If they were releasing 1 amiibo per game I will not be complaining, but they are doing a full series for 1 game, for example I like what they are doing with Falco amiibo, is the smash amiibo released at the same time as Star Fox game to use some new functionality, instead of a full series for the game.

The animal crossing games (specially the Wii U one) looks like a game built around the amiibos, not like some added functionality, I would prefer a traditionally developed game of the franchise that could also use the cards of the 3DS version, a not a new set of mandatory toy purchases.

I think is average... and lacking variety but as you mention is because there are no third party games to offer something different and spice things up.

Why should they slow down when it's a huge success? If anything they should increasing far more then what they have now.

Because you start to burn out your customer, people are really starting to hate them in some Wii U communities, sure the collectors will keep buying them but those are the collectors... if you want everyone one to become a collector you have to give them the chance of getting them all (no shortage) and a phasing that allows them to actually buy them, not just send another serie when is hard to get the previous one in stores.

From those list, I've already pre-ordered SMM. Then I wanted XCX.  If budget allows - FFV and D3rd are next.  Then those Yoshi, etc would be maybe for 2016.  I'm good with it, as I don't have to buy a lot of games day 1 and I still have a lot of backlog games. :)

If people are starting to hate them why are they selling more and more by the minute? Most customers are upset at how they're not increasing their push, the shortages are a result of the demand.

I think you misunderstood. I wasn't saying that they were releasing without hype. I said they were releasing without fanfare. As in, Nintendo isn't making a big deal out of each amiibo. They generally only mention amiibo in connection with the games, and at most the release of an amiibo is accompanied by a facebook post. The only time they hype up amiibo and not in direct connection with a game that is going to be released is with the Smash ones, and mostly that only happened with ones they knew were going to be in demand, like the Mewtwo one.

By the way, the only one that got a "full series" so far, other than Smash, is the Super Mario collection... and that seems reasonable enough. And the Animal Crossing Wii U game is supposed to be a board game with the amiibo standing in for tokens (and it looks like the cards will also work fine, while being very cheap and small). Beyond those, there are a total of 3 for splatoon, 1 for chibi-robo, 2 special 8-bit Mario ones, and 4 yarn yoshis (mostly done for the cute factor). So other than amiibos that are effectively essential to their game concepts, which consists of two games (Mario Party and Animal Crossing), there are a total of 10 amiibos. And of those, the splatoon ones were available as a bundle, the yarn yoshis are mostly just various colours (which is no different from selling both white and black Wii U's), and the 8-bit Mario ones are literally just retro and modern colours of the same thing. So really, when it comes down to it, ignoring recolours, there's just 7 amiibo that aren't tied to one of three specific games.

I really cannot see where the problem is.
