Forums - Gaming Discussion - PC Port of Persona 5 Positively Improbable

It has nothing to do with moneyhatting. With PC its smarter to ignore this platform and concentrate on consoles first. Its better to release the games later on PC to avoid early pirating of the game therefor pushing gamers to buy the console version for 60$. Also a PC release later gives the game some publicity again.
I am speaking from a bussineperspective of course

You're talking like it is getting a port when this thread is about it not getting a port for sure. If this was getting a port to PC it would come to Nintendo consoles first and since a mainline Persona game hasn't even hit that the chance of a PC port is non-existent so the port begging from some people is a waste of time.

I think this surprised absolutely no one... I don't even think any of the SMT or Persona games or heck, even majority of the Altus games even made it to PC ever. (Correct me if I am wrong though)

It could be a Sony moneyhatt but since SMT has never been on PC either but it has been on Nintendo platform, I think Altus just doesn't care for PC rather than moneyhatting but I could be wrong

I don't think it's moneyhatting as this is a regular pattern as far as niche JRPGs goes. The main reason japanese devs "hate" pc is that steam only has yen prices since september 2014.

Given recent releases, P6 or P5 vita might come to PC though.

So is PSN, PS+ is even ceaper in Japan

The difference here is that the PR person effectively said that a PC port will never happen, rather than saying "we are not planning a PC port at this time," or "we will consider the possibility of a PC port in the future, but we're now focusing on x console."

This is why I think it's possible that Sony is involved with the game in some way financially (as Sony is with the developer Nippon Ichi and has done before with several other smaller Japanese titles), rather than Atlus just putting it on PlayStation first, since it's the most lucrative platform for the series. I'm not saying that Sony necessarily is involved with the game, I'm saying that there are numerous indicators that might hint at some collaboration.

It is unlikely on PC.

Sony aren't paying a cent toward that fact.

Well, MGS5 was also unlikely on PC a few years ago... or Final Fantasy XIII + XIII-2 + Lightning Returns + Type-0... or Toukiden: Kiwami... or Shenmue 3... or Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 + 2 + 3... or Trails in the Sky... or 6 Ys games... or Valkyria Chronicles... or Street Fighter 4 + 5... or Dead or Alive 5... or Dynasty Warriors 8... or Akiba's Trip... or English versions of Steins;Gate + Clannad (PC even before PSN) + many other visual novels...

I'm looking forward to play Persona 5 on my PS4 and would be very happy about a P5 Golden on my Vita, but Japanese publishers are expanding left and right to PC and I wouldn't be surprised if some Persona games, Dragon Quest games or even Final Fantasy XV are ported to PC in the next years.

Sony didn't moneyhatted anything. For Atlus, a pc port (or Xbox port, or WiiU port) is just TOTALLY USELESS, that's all.

Nintendo and Atlus have a great relationship and Atlus has a very good reputation with Nintendo fans. A Wii U port would not be useless, it would actually end up doing pretty well most likely.

So for Atlus, PC or Xbox is pretty much useless.

I think it's safe to say that a PC port of Final Fantasy XV is extremely likely at this point.

When will people get this in their head? Nintendo handheld fanbase =/= Nintendo console fanbase. Nintendo's console fanbase hasn't had any exposure to Atlus' RPGs since the SNES and the only exposure they are getting is that trashy crossover game, they have no connection with Persona at all and there would be no reason for a Persona/JRPG fan to only own the Wii U as a home console, so there's no reason to think this would do well on Wii U.
