Can Metacritic not do basic math? If you add up all 45 review scores and divide by 45 (which was how I was taught to get an average ) you get: 79.55

Yet the metacritic score is showing as 78. WTH?

Btw if you remove that ridiculous "look at me, I'm controversial!!" score of 40 by Digital Spy, the average score goes to: 80.45

Metacritic is using a weighted average, some scores are worth more than others to them.

G*ddamned statistics!!  Well, that would explain the fuzzy math. Thanks for the info.

I still think they should remove obvious outlier scores that are clearly click-bait too high or too low (like the 40 for Digital Spy).

Well I am happy to be proved wrong in my reaction to Broken Gamer's impressions. Knocking on the door of an 80 for this game is very good, and above my earlier expectations of 70-75. So this game is better, on Metacritic, than I expected. And honestly, I think games like this would get harsh treatment from reviewers if they were not good representations of the genre. So 78 is probably a reasonable representation of the game's quality.

Up to 79 now! Still getting more 8s and some 9s so hopefully it ends up in the 80s.
